“Yes, it was so much fun.”
“I’m so glad. You really looked like you were letting go and living your best life.”
I nod. “This has been an amazing trip so far, thank you so much.”
Her smile begins to fade. “I just wish Rachel would’ve joined us. At least she’ll be at the spa later.”
Rachel was fast asleep when I got back to the cabin after dinner last night and still asleep when Leslie and I left this morning.
“Of course she will.”
I almost add that it’s because Christian won’t be there, but I stop myself. I need to step away from this situation for now. I really wish I hadn’t been so nosy, because I know more than I want to.
When I return to our cabin, Rachel isn’t there. The room has already been cleaned, and the beds are made. Another perk of cruising—you don’t have to make the bed and at night you get chocolate on your pillow. Is there anything better than having chocolate waiting for you?
After I come out of the shower, Leslie has returned, and she’s lying on her bed, looking at her phone.
“Hey. The shower is all yours.”
“Okay. Thanks.”
I pull a dress out of the tiny closest and set it on my bed.
“I wonder where Rachel is,” I say, trying to make conversation.
She shrugs and puts her phone down.
“Who knows? Maybe she’s still pouting.”
Pouting? It’s pretty obvious that there’s no love lost between Leslie and Rachel.
“Tori, I think you and I need to have a chat.”
Ah, this should be fun.
I twist the towel tighter on top of my head. “Sure. What do you want to talk about?”
She sits up and crosses her legs under her.
“I know you and Caroline have known each other for a long time.”
Here we go.
I sit on the edge of my bed. “Yes, we have.”
“And I’m sure it hasn’t been easy being the outsider with the rest of us being so close.”
I chew on my bottom lip. Hah, if she only knew what’s really going on with this group.
“As you know, we’ve all made a lot an effort to welcome you in because it’s important to Caroline.”
Huh? Did she really say she’s made an effort? I continue to listen to her while biting my tongue.
“Now all of this being said, you need to be careful when it comes to Matt. Caroline has her heart set on things progressing between you and him.”
I hold up my hand to stop her. “I like Matt a lot, but—”
“But you’re interested in Tyler,” she interjects.
