“You’re totally into him, aren’t you?” she exclaims.

I sigh. “I knew you were going to say that.”

“Well?”

I take a sip of my water. “Well—what?”

“What’s the problem?” she asks. “I like Tyler. I think he’s funny.”

I shrug. “Yeah, he has a good sense of humor.”

“But?”

I laugh. “What do you want me to say?”

She looks over to where Tyler is now sitting with his friends.

“I don’t know. Maybe you should just be open to all possibilities.”

I let out a puff of air. “Annie Parker, you’re a good friend.”

“At least you admit it.”

“I know you mean well but trust me when I tell you that Leslie wouldn’t be too happy if something happened between Tyler and me.”

She leans in toward me. “So what. Are they together?”

“Not yet,” I say. “But there’s probably a good change they will be.”

Parker shrugs. “I guess we’ll see what happens.”

“Yes, we will. Not to mention Tyler isn’t my type at all.”

She looks over. “Hmm … he’s a cutie. Maybe you should change your type.”

“Okay, let’s talk about something else, please,” I say.

“Like what?” she asks.

“Work, the weather,The Bachelor, Spencer Brady, anything—”

“I’m always open to talk about Spencer,” she says.

I glance over at Tyler’s table. He is attractive, but he’s not worth dealing with the wrath of Leslie. Poor Caroline’s wedding might have enough drama already.

ChapterEight

One of the best things about living in Florida is the close proximity to the port. Being able to leave home and be on a cruise ship within a few hours is a dream. It’s still a bit surreal that I’m about to go on a weekend getaway with Caroline and the wedding party—minus Jeannie and her husband. You would think there would be more pressing tasks to do with a massive weekend wedding a few short months away, but I guess there’s nothing to fear with Erica, the Mary Poppins of MOHs, running things.

I’m throwing a few last minute things in my suitcase when Parker calls.

“Are you ready?”

“To cruise—yes. However, I’m on the fence about my travel companions.”

“You should just hang with Tyler the whole time. You’ll be fine.”

I roll my eyes even though she can’t see me.
