I turn to see the guy in the white tuxedo. He walks up to Erica and gives her a kiss on the forehead.
Hold on.Wasn’t he the one who Rachel was just practically drooling over? I look back and see the other three men, including the truck guy, still talking to Leslie. Huh. I must have imagined it.
“Tori, we’ve heard a lot about you,” he says, holding out his fist to bump mine. I follow his lead and put my fist to his.
“Poor Tori had a little wardrobe mishap, but we got it taken care of,” Erica tells him.
“Of course you did, because you’re amazing,” he swoons, before kissing her on the cheek again.
Erica beams, while I get a strange feeling. I’m not sure what it is, but something feels off. Christian certainly acts likes he’s enamored with Erica, but it’s almost a little too much. And I can’t shake the way Rachel was looking at him. Maybe I’m losing it? I barely know any of these people, so who am I to make assumptions that could be completely off base.
“Excuse me, friends,” Andy calls, trying to get everyone’s attention.
The room falls silent, and Caroline joins him. He takes her hand and kisses it.
“Caroline and I want to thank all of you for being here with us tonight,” he says. Caroline nods, and as expected, her eyes fill with tears.
“You mean the world to us, and we both feel our lives are richer and more blessed because of—sniff—because of the impact you’ve had,” she says, fumbling over her words.
“We love you guys,” Christian yells cupping his hands around his mouth.
“Yes,” Erica adds.
“Christian and Erica, you’re next,” Caroline calls.
My eyes move toward Rachel, who’s downing her martini.
Hmm …
Christian makes a toast to the happy couple, and then the volume of the music increases.
“That was such a great toast, babe,” Erica says, pressing her nose against Christian’s cheek.
“So, give me a rundown of who’s who here,” I say, interrupting their PDA.
“Oh, yes,” Erica says. “Honestly, I keep forgetting that you don’t know everyone. It feels so natural for you to be here.”
I give her a grateful smile.
“You’ve already met Rachel and Leslie,” she says. “Jeannie and her husband, Rick, just walked in. She’s Andy’s sister.”
I glance toward the door to see a blonde woman who looks like the female version of Andy.
“The other groomsmen are Matt, he’s the one in the glasses, Clint is the one with the shaved head, and the taller, bigger guy is Tyler.”
“We call him our security,” Christian adds with a chuckle.
I purse my lips together. I guess it makes sense because truck guy—er, Tyler, is pretty ripped. And now that I see him in the light, he’s kind of attractive too.
“Yes, I can see why,” I say.
“Come meet the guys,” Erica says.
Ah, this will be fun. I follow Erica and Christian over to where the groomsmen are still talking to Leslie.
Christian begins making introductions, with Matt and Clint first and then finally Tyler.
“Hello, again. We sort of met in the parking lot, didn’t we?” Tyler asks, his lips curling up into another dazzling smile.
