I twist my hair on top of my head and throw on a pair of skinny jeans and a fitted blouse.

Gabby and Reagan are sitting in the kitchen, discussing bridesmaid’s dresses.

“Good morning.”

“Lila will be the tie breaker,” Gabby exclaims. “Lila, look at these two dresses. Which color do you like better?”

She turns her laptop toward me. The dresses are almost identical.

“They are the exact same color,” I say flatly.

“See?” Reagan exclaims. “I told you.”

Gabby frowns and looks more closely at the screen. “The one on the left looks lighter to me.”

I pour myself a cup of coffee.

“What’s up with you?” Reagan asks. “Did you and Cal have a good night?”

It takes all my effort to tone down my smile. “We did.” I pause and let out a sigh. This is kind of fun—I should make it as dramatic as possible. “I have to talk to you guys about something. It’s pretty important.”

A look of panic spreads across both their faces.

“Is everything okay?” Gabby asks.

“Well, you know my parents found a buyer.”

They both nod.

“When do we have to be out?” Gabby asks.

“We need to sign the lease on the condo today,” Reagan reminds me.

“Actually, I don’t know about that condo.”

Reagan looks confused. “But we agreed that was the best option. Do we have time to keep looking?”

“Well, interestingly enough, we don’t have to move out.”

They give each other a look.

“I don’t understand?” Gabby says.

“Cal’s buying the house.”

The room is silent before a collective scream escapes from both of their mouths. Of course the questions start, and I tell them about Cal’s little sneaky surprise.

“Theo was in on it?” Gabby coos. “I love that man so much.”

“Yes. Theo came through once again,” I tell her. “I probably need to get him something, like a gift card or a fruit basket.”

She giggles. “The only thing he wants is your friendship.”

“Ugh. Fine.”

I’m totally kidding. Theo and I are way past the issues of the past, but it’s still fun to tease Gabby about it.

“More importantly, what does this mean for you and Cal?” Reagan asks. She’s such a romantic.
