She nods. “You’re right. I guess it was good that he cheated on me with my best friend.”

“Former best friend,” I remind her. “Maybe we should call and thank her for being such a horrible person.”

We all laugh.

“I don’t know what I would’ve done if you guys hadn’t moved in here,” I say. “I have no doubt my parents would’ve had this house sold long ago.”

“That just proves that everything happens the way it’s supposed to,” Reagan reminds us. “I found the two greatest friends, and we’ve all found love.”

“This house is definitely magical,” Gabby announces.

“Maybe we should get Jeremy to buy a house on our street,” I suggest. “Then we could all live near each other forever.”

“And our kids can play together,” Gabby adds.

Seriously?The kid thing again?

Gabby holds up her glass. “Let’s make a toast. Here’s to love,” she says.

“And memories,” Reagan adds.

“And friendship,” I shout.

Love, memories, and friendship—there’s always something to be thankful for.

Epilogue

Is there such a thing as happily ever after? Watching Gabby walk down the aisle and seeing how much she and Theo love each other tells me there is.

Gabby has officially moved next door now that she’s Mrs. Theo Jorgenson, but she hangs out with Reagan and me so much it feels like she never left. She’s also thriving as our leader at Fun in the Sun, which I know is a huge relief to Elizabeth. Meanwhile, Javier is still trying to convince Elizabeth to fly us all over to London for our monthly meeting with her. I’m so glad that she kept the agency open because even though I could work for any other company, it’s where I belong.

Jeremy was visibly emotional at Gabby and Theo’s wedding, and he’s mentioned taking the next step with Reagan. We’re trying to convince him to buy a house on our street, or at least in our neighborhood, and he keeps asking if I know a good realtor. That joke was funny the first few times. I can’t be annoyed with him though because he supplies us with donuts every week, and who would be mad about that?

Paul says that Jordan and Bethany are still together and getting more serious. I wish Jordan nothing but happiness, and if Bethany gives him that, I have no right to judge. I’m still skeptical of her, but Reagan keeps reminding me that people can change. She’s working toward trusting Bethany again, and although they may not be close friends, I believe they will come to an understanding.

It’s so true that people come in and out of our lives for a reason. I’m grateful to have met the Hillards. They may not understand it, but my connection to them helped to lead me back to Cal. This being said, I know in my heart we would have found our way back to one another at some point.

Cal told me that he wants to marry me and that he will officially ask me when I least expect it. I have no doubt that he’s the man I’m supposed to spend my life with, and I think I’ve known that deep down all along. I will absolutely say yes when he asks, and my roommates keep teasing me that it might happen at the miniature golf course.

My parents are planning our family weekend in New York City, and they invited Cal to join us. Ever since Cal purchased their house, they’ve been more present in my life, and they don’t ask about my sales as much as they used to. I don’t expect them to be as doting as Cal’s parents, and that’s okay.

Cal says he won’t officially move into our home until we’re married, so for now we are enjoying every second of making up for the years we were apart.

The events of the last year are a great reminder that life has many ups and downs and having people who stand by you makes it worth it. With friendship and love, making memories is what makes life so magical.
