“I can’t wait to see you,” I say.
“Same here.”
As soon as he’s off the phone, I let out a deep breath. It’s a new day, but for some reason it feels more like a brand-new beginning.
I scroll through my phone to find my sister’s number.
“See? I did call you,” I say as soon as she answers.
“Ha, ha. I was just telling Evan that I couldn’t wait to hear about your date with Mr. Abs,” she exclaims. “He didn’t seem amused by that nickname at all.”
I laugh. “Tell him he has nothing to worry about because you adore him.”
“I sure do,” she agrees. “Anyway, how was last night?”
I lean back on my pillow as a huge grin spreads across my face.
“Indescribable.”
“Ohh, that’s what I like to hear,” she cheers.
“I actually don’t have long to talk because Jeremy’s coming over in a little while,” I say, jumping out of bed. I can hardly contain my excitement, but I’m trying to keep it at bay as much as possible.
“Good for you. Don’t waste any more time,” she exclaims.
“I’m not.”
“I have a good feeling about this man,” she insists.
“Do you?” I say with a laugh.
“He’s sincere and fun.”
“And hot,” I offer.
“Yes, that too,” she agrees. “Now you need to do one thing for me.”
I groan. “Kennedy, I know you too well. I’m not agreeing to anything until I have all the info.”
“Very funny,” she says. “I was just going to ask that you finally give me credit for convincing you to move to Miami.”
“Seriously? That’s what you want?”
“That’s it.”
I can’t help but laugh. My sister is a handful, but I love her dearly, and I wouldn’t be here right now if it wasn’t for her. I wouldn’t have met Lila and Gabby, and I wouldn’t have started working with Jeremy.
“Okay, I’ll do it.”
“Huh?”
“Thank you for convincing me to move here. You’re a great sister, and I don’t say that enough.”
The silence on the phone is deafening.
“Kennedy?”
“I’m still here,” she says, sniffling.
