He laughs. “Panda is a hottie.”

“Exactly.”

He stops walking and pulls me toward him, wrapping his arms around my waist.

“Reagan, I know I like to joke around, but you need to know that I’m serious about my feelings for you.”

I try swallowing the lump that’s forming in my throat.

“Dante is an idiot for not recognizing how amazing you are,” he continues. “I wouldn’t let anything stop me from being with you.”

I can’t speak, so I slowly nod my head up and down.

“I’m going to make you forget him,” he whispers. His warm breath sends shivers through my body.

It’s a good thing Jeremy is holding on to me so tightly because my legs have gone weak again.

“You don’t have to do that,” I say when I’m finally able to put words together. “I already talked to him and told him I just wanted to be friends.”

“So, I don’t have to battle him to win your affection?” he asks. “Because I was ready.”

I clear my throat. “I want you to know that all Dante and I have are memories. I’m one thousand percent focused on what’s happening right here, right now.”

I lock my arms around his neck.

“Oh, I’m just getting started, Blondie.” He looks into my eyes, lifts my chin with his finger, and doesn’t waste another second bringing my lips to his. Our kiss is just as magical as the first, but this time it feels different. It’s more urgent and determined. Jeremy is letting me know that he’s serious, and I want to do the same.

Chapter Twenty-Four

One of the best feelings in the world is waking up the morning after a perfect date. It’s dark and gloomy outside, but I feel like the sun is shining in my room. The second I open my eyes, all the memories of my first official night with Jeremy come rushing back, starting with him standing in my doorway looking like a Greek god. Gabby and Lila were both asleep when I came home, so I couldn’t tell them about it.

After our romantic walk on the beach, Jeremy drove me home and walked me to the door. I invited him to come inside, but he said no because he wanted to prove that he could be a gentleman. It’s safe to say that we’ve officially moved out of the friend zone, and I couldn’t be happier.

When I turn on my phone there are already messages from Jeremy waiting for me.

Thanks for having dinner with me.

Can I see you again today?

I know I’m supposed to wait at least a day to message you. Oh well, I have no game.

I laugh out loud. We’re definitely way past the rules of dating. Are there still rules? I’ve been out of the game for so long I don’t know what’s considered normal anymore.

Without giving it a second thought, I click on his number.

“I was wondering how long it would take you to call me, Blondie,” he says with a laugh. “I figured you’d want to make me wait.”

I giggle. “Nah, you’ve waited long enough.”

“Man, isn’t that the truth,” he replies dramatically.

“Do you want to come over?” I ask eagerly. I don’t care if this is too soon after our date. All I know is I want to see him. Like my sister said, we need to make up for lost time.

He’s quiet for a few seconds.

“Do you even have to ask? Of course I do. I can be there within an hour.”

Warmth spreads through me, hearing him say those words reminds me that I made the right decision. I have no idea if he had other plans, but obviously that doesn’t matter to him.
