“Believe it or not, it looks like I may have a potential client already,” I say, holding up my phone.

Elizabeth nods knowingly. “I had no doubt you would.”

I excuse myself from Elizabeth’s office to reach out to this Danielle person.

She answers on the first ring and tells me she and her husband are thinking about selling their beach front condo because it’s too small.

Wow.Must be nice.

I get some information about the condo, and we agree to meet there in a few days. Before we hang up, I nonchalantly ask her about Theo.

“Theo and my brother-in-law are friends,” she tells me. “He mentioned that you were new to the area and were trying to build your client base.”

I knew it.

“What’s your brother-in-law’s name?

“Cal. Do you know him?”

I glance over at Lila who’s also on the phone. What are the chances?

For such a big city, it’s certainly feels like a small world around here.

“I met him yesterday. I hurt my wrist and Theo took me to his office.”

“Oh, that’s so funny,” she says. “Anyway, my husband told me to reach out to you this morning.”

When I finish my conversation with Danielle, I’m feeling really good. It takes all of my willpower to keep from jumping on my desk and dancing around. It’s only been a few hours, and I already have a huge prospect—thanks to Theo. I didn’t think my day could get better than breakfast with him, but obviously I was wrong.

Chapter Six

“I’d like to make a toast,” Reagan says, holding up her Diet Coke. Apparently, she only drinks alcohol once a week, and last night was it.

I’m not much of a drinker either, but I have a lot to celebrate today, so I join Lila in a little indulgence. She and I follow Reagan’s lead and hold up our wine glasses.

“To new friends and new adventures,” Reagan cheers.

My mind flips to the image of Theo making me breakfast. Yes, I’ll definitely drink to new adventures.

I have no complaints about my first day at Fun in the Sun Realty. I had a feeling I was going to like working there from the second I walked through those doors, and I was right. The energy is infectious, and my co-workers are great.

Javier is hysterical, and I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I’m actually looking forward to taking a salsa class with him. Suzanna is a little standoffish, but Lila assured me that she takes a while to warm up to people, which is totally fine with me.

After her toast, Reagan starts making suggestions as we study the menu.

“Dante used to make us the lemon parmesan chicken. It’s mouthwatering.”

Lila looks at her phone and groans.

“I need some advice,” she whines. I have a feeling she’s not referring to the menu options. “Somehow I ended up with two dates to the same charity event. I have to cancel on one of them, and I feel terrible about it.”

I give her a confused look. “How did that happen?”

She purses her lips. “Well—I couldn’t decide between Enrique and Jordan. So, I said yes to both, and now I’m in a bind.”

Poor Enrique. I don’t even know the guy, and I feel sorry for him. I remember Lila was talking to him when she showed up at the agency yesterday. I thought she was trying to let him down gently, and now she might cancel on him? Ah … I forgot how tangled dating life can be.

“Well, who would you rather go with?” Reagan asks.
