“Gabby, are you okay?” Lila shouts, running out of her bedroom in her bathrobe.
“They accepted the Sims’ counter-offer.”
Lila claps her hands together. “Awesome, congrats.”
I quickly send a text to Danielle, giving her the exciting news.
Admittedly, I was worried. It’s been a long time since I waited on the edge of my seat to hear about an offer. Back in Orlando, I’d reached a level in my career where I didn’t stress about my sales. Building a brand from nothing is as challenging as I remember. This sale is exactly what I need to make my mark at Fun in the Sun Realty, and I hope it’s only the beginning.
Chapter Eleven
“Congratulations, Gabby,” Elizabeth cheers.
I’ve been in Miami for three weeks, and I officially made my first sale.
Javier, Lila, and even Suzanna each hold up their champagne flutes to toast me. Despite trying to hold in the tears, I fail.
“Thank you so much,” I say, getting choked up.
“Hold that thought,” Elizabeth shouts. I wait as she scrolls through her phone. “Someone else wants to tell you congratulations.”
My heart does a little flutter, and the image of Theo pops into my head.
She flips the phone around, and I see Nikki and Jason on the screen. That’s all it takes to make the tears fall harder. There’s a part of me that was hoping it was Theo, but I’m thrilled to see my brother and sister-in-law.
“Congrats, sis,” Jason exclaims. “We knew you’d be lighting up that city in no time.”
“Your brother is so cute,” Lila whispers.
I make a face. Luckily Nikki doesn’t hear her.
“Aw, I love seeing you guys. I miss you.”
“We miss you, Gabs,” Nikki says. “Keep up the great work. And tell Lizzy to be nice to you.”
“I’m always nice,” Elizabeth shouts, rolling her eyes.
As soon as Jason and Nikki are off the phone, I feel a little homesick. Even though I’m enjoying life here, there are aspects of Orlando that I miss. Namely, my family.
After our little celebration, everyone returns to their work and I finish up the paperwork for Danielle and Kevin’s condo. They’re also very interested in a gorgeous home in a nearby area called Parkland, so I’m hoping to get a purchase going for them very soon. Working with them has been a blessing, and I owe it all to Theo.
Thoughts of Theo really pull at my heart strings. The last time I saw him was our conversation across the lawn when he was leaving on his business trip. It’s probably been good to have some space because I’ve buried myself in my work, and it’s paying off. Although, there have been a few mornings I’ve woken up extra early and the first thoughts I had were of him swimming laps.
“Remember, you have the house to yourself tonight,” Lila says, pulling her bag on her shoulder.
“Oh, yeah—tonight’s the big charity event.”
Lila finally decided to go with Jordan, whom I still haven’t met. Apparently when she broke the news to Enrique, he didn’t take it very well, and she learned an entire new vocabulary of Spanish words.
“Yep. And Reagan is going out for Kennedy’s birthday.”
I smile. “At Golden, of course.”
Reagan frequents Dante’s restaurant every chance she gets, so it’s no surprise she suggested they celebrate her sister’s birthday there.
“Don’t worry, I’m not cooking tonight,” I add. “I’ve already placed a to-go order.”
Any time we discuss meals, the burnt pasta fiasco is mentioned.
