“I felt my heart squeeze too,” Daisy confessed. “I thought it was just because of realizing how much I love you.”

“My mate,” I murmured the words, running my fingers through her thick hair, the golden highlights brighter in the med-bay lights. “Mine.”

“Are you sure?”

Daisy’s voice held a tinge of uncertainty. I curled my fingers under her chin, raising her gaze upward.

“I can’t have children. Remember?” Her eyes flickered with sadness. I wished never to see that expression on her perfect face again.

Shrugging, I gave a snort and raised my head to press my lips to her forehead. “We already have twenty younglings. Why do we need more.”

The emotions flickering over her face stole my breath. In the dimness of the cave, I thought her the most beautiful female I’d ever know. Here in the brightness of the med-lab, wrapped in my arms, she was so lovely it was nearly painful.

Daisy scooted upward where her face was even with mine.

“I love you,” she whispered, fingertips stroking my face.

“My mate.” I managed before covering her mouth with mine.

The kiss was slow, sensual, our tongues languidly stroking against each other’s as those there was nothing else in the word either of us would care to be doing.

Well, there was one thing.

I shifted, rolling Daisy on her back, and settling between her thighs as my fingertips found the hem of her dress, jerking it upward.

Daisy froze, issuing a fainteep.“Daicon, it’s too soon. You just woke up from being dead.”

“I’ll die if I don’t have you mate.” I knew from the wicked gleam to her smile that she felt me rock-hard against her. “But if you’re worried, you can be on top.” Wrapping my arm around her waist, I rolled shifting onto my back with Daisy straddling my thighs.

“Daicon!” Daisy’s tone was scolding even as she ground against me.

Her lips crashed onto mine, my heart hammering so fast I worried about hers trying to match the tempo. Our tongues clashed, and a soft, satisfied groan issued from deep in my throat.”

“Ahem!”

Daisy’s embarrassed squeak preceded her jerking away, her hands nervously going to where my fingers cupped her perfect ass.

Toovis stood just inside the doorway, arms crossed over his chest while his brows drew together in aggravation.

“You have the worst timing.” I growled at him, yanking the thin blanket up to hide the expanse of Daisy’s creamy thighs.

“Glad to see you back to your old self brother.” Toovis rolled his eyes, but I didn’t miss the flash of relief that crossed his features.

“Would you tell him that he needs to rest?” Daisy tried to squirm off me, but my hands settled on her waist, holding her tight.

“Like it would do any good.” Toovis shot me a scathing look, but his expression morphed into admiration and respect as it shifted to my mate.

I snorted in agreement.

“Just go to your own room,” Toovis discharged me with a wave of his hand before adding. “You need to take it easy another week” One eye closed in a wink. “Nothing too strenuous.”

I swung my feet to the floor, Daisy held tightly against me. My head swam a little—not surprising since I died a week ago—but a couple of blinks found me clearheaded.

“Don’t you want to put some clothes on?” Daisy whispered, the pink in her cheeks adorable as she cut her glance down my body.

My nakedness came as no surprise, but who the hell wanted to put on breeches just to pull them off in another minute. Not to mention the daunting task it would be with my throbbing erection. Holding Daisy against my side with one hand I snatched the blanket from the bed and wrapped it around my middle while ignoring Toovis snicker as we left the med-bay behind.

We caught a few more shocked and amused glances as I strode down the corridor, Daisy pressed to my side, her legs wrapped around my waist. Her face was buried in my neck, a small tremor of laughter shaking her shoulders every time someone passed by calling out greetings and best wishes for my healing. Of course, most of the words came accompanied with a knowing chuckle.
