She shrugs. “I’m clumsy.”
“You’re drunk.”
She rolls her eyes. “Again with this shit?”
“Yeah. I’m not coming in if you can’t consent.”
“I’m consenting right now, Trey, damn. You act like the fucking hall monitor.”
I study her closely. She looks fine right now, but I’m still not convinced.
She crosses her arms, glaring as she says, “I’ll prove it.”
I raise an eyebrow. “What, you want me to give you a sobriety test? I look like a cop to you?”
She shrugs. “You have big cop energy. All that concern and control.”
That makes me laugh in spite of myself. “Okay, then. Let’s do it. Walk in a straight line.”
She puts the first foot forward.
“Hold up.” I move away from the door and settle on the chair at the desk. “Alright, go.”
She spreads her arms wide like she’s about to do ballet, wobbling just a bit as she gets balanced.
“You’re not really selling this shit, Lane.”
She rolls her eyes at me, then takes a slow, exaggerated walk across the room, heel to toe, perfectly straight.
I fold my arms and nod. “Not bad.”
She turns back to me, lifting her chin. “What next, Officer?”
“Touch your nose. With both index fingers. At the same time.”
She rolls her eyes, muttering, “Never had to work this hard for dick before.”
I snicker, watching as she touches her nose easily.
“See that?” she says. “Now what?”
“Touch your toes.”
She places her hand over her heart. “You didn’t even buy me dinner first.”
I huff out a laugh as she bends over and taps her toes with the tips of her fingernails. Not exactly what I asked, but I’ll allow it. She doesn’t wobble at all.
She straightens and looks at me, breathing a little heavier, a playful smile on her face.
“You good?” I ask, watching her closely.
“I’m fine.”
“I know youfine, but are you good?”
She walks toward me, sliding onto my lap like she’s been there before. All it takes is her thigh brushing my crotch, and I’m hard. No chance of me hiding it.
Her arm curls around my neck, fingers teasing the skin at my nape. “I was a little tipsy when I left bingo,” she admits softly, “but I’m perfectly fine now. I promise.”
