“And I want you naked and beneath me, screaming my name as you come.”
CHAPTER FORTY-SEVEN
He finally, reluctantly, let her go and take a shower an hour or so later. He’d offered to come with her, but Rachel had shoved her hand against his chest and told him she needed a moment to herself. As he lay on the bed, casually flipping through the wedding folio, Matthew made himself a promise, he’d take Rachel in the shower tonight.
The bathrooms at the ski lodge were not big enough for two people and he’d been aching to indulge in his private fantasy of pressing her tits against the cool tiles while he sunk his cock deep in her heat, ever since they had stepped off the boat.
Stop thinking with your dick, and focus on the paperwork, Matty boy.
The instructions contained in the folio were pretty clear. For those who wished entertainment there was an itemized itinerary for the next couple of days. Planned activities for the guests in the lead up to the wedding included an archery contest, snorkeling, and a cooking class with a master chef. His mother had planned the whole thing down to the minute. For guests who simply wanted to chill there was plenty of time for that too.
But the clock was ticking down on his and Rachel’s time together. Soon the Aspen design project would be complete. Then what? He couldn’t imagine letting her go.
I want this thing between us to outlast the project. To become something deeper.
I want more.
I want her.
She’d fitted in perfectly with Bryce and Vivian while they were all in New York. His brother and fiancée had both given him their quiet approval of the relationship. But tonight and the next few days would be the real test as to whether Rachel might find a permanent place in his life. He was keen for her to meet his parents, and the rest of his family.
He tossed the wedding papers aside and rose from the bed. A girlfriend hadn’t been in his plans, let alone a wife. But the more time he spent with the blond southern beauty the more he ached to make Rachel his, now and forever.
Meeting the family. Those three little words struck fear deep in Rachel’s heart. She’d already been on the receiving end of a partner’s parental disapproval. Herex-mother-in-law-to-behad made it plain she’d deemed Rachel as no longer suitable.Suitable.Was there a more judgmental word in the entire English language?
I’m done with people who don’t think I’m good enough. I know who I am, and my value in this world. No one will ever again make me feel less about myself.
She’d learned to stand on her own two feet.To own her life. If the Royal family didn’t think she was up to their standards, that was their problem, not hers.
Stop being so defensive, Rach. The rest of his family could also be really lovely people. Vivian and Bryce are great. And Camille.
Matthew’s family might even get to like her.
Rachel finished buckling up her silver sandals and stood upright. Checking herself in the mirror, she took a deep breath to calm her nerves. You can do this. The hem of the pale rose silk dress tumbled down, stopping just above her knees.
This pleated mini dress had come with a twelve-hundred-dollar price tag. The silver sandals just shy of eight-hundred dollars. She didn’t want to think just how much her entire wardrobe would have set Matthew back. Getting her head around how billionaires lived wasn’t easy. Vivian’s little saying rang true.“Welcome to Planet Billionaire.”
The door of their room opened, and Rachel turned as Matthew stepped through the door. His gaze roamed appreciatively over her body, sending a thrill down her spine.
You are one hot man, Matthew Royal.
He’d given her time alone to dress and do her makeup. It was nice that he didn’t hover while she got ready. Her ex used to sit watching while she dressed, and it had always made her uncomfortable.
“I’ve just checked downstairs. Mom and Dad are going to be a bit late. Something about the wine selection for the wedding reception. Dad is insanely particular about his wine. The rest of my immediate family members will be there so if you are ready to leave, we can go catch up with Bryce and Vivian. Oh, and the bride and groom.”
She was both eager and super nervous to finally meet the mystery happy couple.
God, I hope I don’t make a fool of myself.
Must not gush.
Must not squeal.
Rachel picked up her purse. As she did, she mentally searched for her phone, but,oh right, they took it away. “Yes, I’m ready. Let’s go.”
She moved toward the door, silently relishing the hunger that blazed in his deep brown eyes as she passed Matthew by, and their gazes briefly met. No man had ever made her feel wanted the way he did. At some point she was going to have to decide to trust him with her past.
I don’t know what I will do if the truth kills that look in his eye.
