She said looking up to Lucas who just nodded and winked at her. "It does."
"So don't let society tell you that you have to change anything about yourself whether it is your size or your exuberance, or whatever it is. Be you and take up space, because even big girls get happy endings."
With one more smile to Lucas she moved to stop the video. Before she had even fully stopped it Lucas wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her onto his lap. She squealed as the video cut out.
"I fucking love you, Songbird."
"I love you too."
He kissed her because it was his favorite thing to do. This felt like a fresh start for them. They'd gotten through this now they had the rest of their lives to figure out. He was sure there would be more bumps in the road, but they'd get through them. In fact, he welcomed them. He welcomed anything that was to come with his amazing songbird.
EPILOGUE
SADIE ~ 6 MONTHS LATER
“Hey Sadie, where do you want this table?” Josh asked as he walked up to her open garage carrying a large folding table.
“Oh perfect, can you just set it up next to that one. I have another box of her flowers to unpack.”
“Sure thing,” he said as she laid the table down.
Sadie walked over to help him flip out the leg as they turned the table upright. “Would you mind helping me get the last couple boxes out so I can set them up?”
“Of course.”
She climbed the stairs in the garage into the kitchen with Josh following behind her.
“Wow, this place is looking really nice.”
Sadie stopped and looked around. The pink carpet and flowered wallpaper were a thing of the past. She and Lucas had been working hard on it the past couple months. She had new hardwood floors and things were coming along. “Do you want to see the music room?”
“I would love to.”
She led him into what had previously been her formal living room. Now it had dark wood floors with a beautiful rug. Thegrand piano was still there, but the walls were a dark green. On one side hung her guitar and banjo, sitting next to a cozy gold couch. Over the fireplace was a big art piece featuring old country albums Lucas had made for her for Christmas.
“Wow, it looks great in here.”
“Thanks, I’m really happy with how it turned out.”
“How are things coming with Liam?”
“Good, we have a couple songs ready to record when his band shows up. I think they are going to stay here and I’m just going to stay over with Lucas.”
“Did I hear my name?” Lucas asked as he made his way in the back door.
“Sadie was just showing me all the work you guys have done. It looks great.”
“Thanks,” he said as she walked in and slipped his arm around her waist.
“Is Poppy home with the new baby?”
Josh nodded.
“How are you guys handling two?”
“Nights are long, but I’m surrounded by my girls. I wouldn’t have it any other way. Are these the boxes you want to set out on the table for you?” Josh asked, pointing to the two boxes next to the door.
“Yep.”
