I come all over my hand and chest, gasping as I do.
Ronan sits back on his heels, eyes locked on the phone. “You’re so sexy when you come, Leontiy.”
“Don’t do that.” I close my eyes, wishing he couldn’t see my face.
“Do what?” he asks through gasps.
“Let me see you come,” I deflect.
He strokes over himself a few more times and explodes.
The month dragsby and I spend more time on the phone with Seaborn than I do with my own roommates. It’s not going to end well, but I’m ignoring that for now.
I get on our flight to DC and pull out my phone to see if he’s messaged me. When I don’t find a text from Seaborn I decide to check in on my brother.
Ktytor: How’s mom?
Little brother: she’s okay.
Ktytor: Nothing more?
Little brother: She’s stressed. She got a second job.
Ktytor: I told her not to do that.
Little brother: She doesn’t have a choice.
Ktytor: I already sent you the money I had for books. Let me figure out if I can spare anymore. I will talk to my agent to see if there are any other personal sponsorships I can do that follow the stupid rules.
Little brother: Thank you. I’m sorry I have to ask.
Ktytor: As long as you stay in school.
Little brother: I am.
Ktytor: I need to get ready for my game. I’ll call you in the morning. Okay?
Little brother: Okay.
I’m so mad I can’t do more. I’m mad I can’t get paid while I play in college. It’s horse shit everyone else can profit off us, but we are forced to live on a pittance. It’s helped a little they’ve started to allow us personal brand deals, but it’s not enough.
At least there’s promise of some relief tonight. I get to see Ronan.
Ktytor: We just finished.
My team is leavingthe arena before he replies.
Seaborn: Us too. How’d you do?
Ktytor: We won. You?
Seaborn: We won.
Ktytor: Where are you staying?
He gives me his hotel, and it’s right across from ours. Perfect.
Seaborn: I need to go out with the team. Give me like two hours?
