A dull ache started at the base of Meggie’s skull. She needed to get home before she ended back in the emergency room. She sent an ‘SOS’ text.

“Outlaw is gunning for Derby, Dez, and Johnnie—”

Meggie blinked. “Gypsy, what—”

Gypsy grabbed Meggie’s bloodless hands. “Listen to me—”

“Outlaw killed two of my bitches, Meggie,” Derby said, jerking her to him and then shoving her back.

Gypsy released another sob. “You put their lives in danger,” she cried. “You’re a miserable fucking cheater and you’re trying to make Outlaw one, too.”

“I’m sorry, babe! I swear. Fuck, I thought he’d finally broken down. I didn’t…”

“Shut up!” Gypsy snarled, swiping at the tears cascading down her cheeks.

Meggie was trying to make sense of the situation. Johnnie’s taunts drummed in her head, competing with Bash’s gloating. “Christopher ch-cheated.” Her voice broke, so she paused, determined not to fall apart in public, especially in front of Derby and Bash. She pointed to him. “He told me what Christopher said about not wanting one woman for the rest of his life.”

“Goddamn.” Derby scrubbed a hand over his face. “I’m so fucking dead.”

“Outlaw didn’t say that, Meggie,” Dez said sharply. “Derby did.”

“Talk to her with respect, motherfucker,” Derby ordered. Like Bash, sweat was beading Derby’s face and head. “She’s the only one who can save us.” He glared at Bash. “Tell her the truth, if you don’t want to die slowly and painfully.”

“I can shoot her down and disappear,” Bash said casually. “Then what?”

“Dez or me would take you down.”

“You’d die for this cunt? I assure you, one or both of you would die with me.” He studied Dez. “You sure you want to throw your allegiance to a sinking ship?”

Gypsy’s tears and the men’s arguing pounded through Meggie’s head. She sent another blanket ‘SOS’ and added ‘911’, not caring who received the message, as long as someone came to her assistance.

“Who the fuck did you text?” Derby demanded.

“The club,” Meggie snapped.

“Jesus fucking Christ,” Bash breathed, losing his color. “Outlaw, too?”

“He’s the president of the club, idiot,” Meggie told him, “and my husband.”

“Oh my god!” Gypsy cried, falling to her knees in front of Meggie and wrapping her arms around her waist. “Meggie, please—”

Her phone began buzzing with incoming texts, just as Christopher’s ringtone blasted from her phone. It could’ve been anyone, butHeavenby Julia Michaels was a dead giveaway as to the caller’s identity.

“He didn’t cheat!” Bash said, his eyes wild with fear and crazed with anger as Derby grabbed her phone. “Not as far as I know.”

Dez stepped forward and bowed his head, while Gypsy sobbed against her. Dazed, Meggie laid her hands on Gypsy’s shoulders.

“I have young kids, Meggie,” Dez said, close to tears himself as Christopher hung up and Mortician started calling.

“Goddamn.”

The sounds of speeding Harleys rose around them and it seemed as if the earth shook.

“Go,” Derby ordered Dez, then looked at Bash and nodded. “You, too, motherfucker. Outlaw don’t need to shoot you down in public and go to fucking jail.”

Bash and Dez wasted no time following Derby’s orders.

“Meggie, please—” Derby begged as Christopher, Mortician, Digger, Val, and so many of the club members streamed into the area, it resembled a bike rally. Notably, Johnnie was missing. “He didn’t cheat. I…please…I don’t want to die. I swear, IswearI’ll spend the rest of my life thanking you—”
