“I want to go home and clean up, Daddy,” Rebel protested.

“Yeah, Dad,” CJ said. “Aunt Zoann punched the fuck out of both temples because she thought I fucked Molly and got her pregnant.”

“How the fuck…?” Uncle Chris’s voice trailed off and he glared at Ryder, Ransom, and Axel. “You lil’ motherfuckers spyin’ again?”

“No, Dad,” Ryder said, unperturbed.

“Then how you know your brother’s business.”

“A man never gives up his sources,” Ransom declared.

“A man give up his sources if he ain’t wantin’ an ass beatin’ so fuckin’ bad, he can’t sit the fuck down for a week.”

“Yeah, Bishop and Potter was talking,” Ransom blurted, “and we overheard them.”

“Goddamn, twerp, you fucking rolled very quickly,” Rebel said with disgust.

“You’ve gotten your ass beat by Dad, Reb,” Ransom said. “I’m not subjectingmyass tohisbelt on behalf of a motherfucker who shouldn’t have been talking so fucking loud.”

“You still repeated shit you shouldna,” Uncle Chris said.

“Now, Dad—” Ryder began.

“Shut the fuck up, son. You ain’t gettin’ your ass beat cuz your ma comin’ home.”

Chapter Twenty-Four

Few times in CJ’s life had so many things culminated at once and wore him out. He’d awakened with a singular purpose—take care of Molly’s problem. It should’ve been as easy as picking her up and bringing her to the clinic, then getting her to the hotel. In hindsight, he realized the issues her disappearance would’ve caused at her house. He just hadn’t appreciated the depth of Tom Harris’s motherfuckery.

CJ swore he’d never make such an error again. The man had destroyed their school project. He’d shaken CJ so badly by his behavior that CJ had felt lucky escaping with his life. Yet, CJ believed the man would just accept Molly’s absence.Worse, he’d left Molly and Mrs. Harris in a vulnerable position.

“You okay, boy?” Dad asked as they boarded the hospital’s elevator.

They’d been silent on the ride from Ridge Moore to Hortensia General. CJ rode shotgun while Dad drove Mom’s Lexus SUV. Rebel and Rule sat in the middle seat, while the other three little fuckheads sat in the third bench seat. CJ supposed Gunner was with Aunt Fee.

Once they were all in the elevator, Rebel pressed the ‘up’ button and the doors closed.

“Yeah, Dad,” CJ answered. “I’m fine.”

Rebel glanced over her shoulder. “Are you worried about Harley?”

It shamed him to admit he’d thought about her only briefly since leaving school, although he considered her fight to be amongst the day’s ills.

“You really beat both those bitches, Reb?” Ryder sounded in awe.

The elevator dinged.

“Yep,” she said as the doors opened and she stepped into the hallway. “Remember that if you value your miserable life.”

Ransom snorted as they started down the hallway. “There’s one of you and three of us, Reb.”

“What the fuck that mean, boy?” Dad asked, reaching the general sitting area for the floor. As usual, Dweller brothers swarmed. “There’s three of you and one of my fuckin’ ass. Hit your sister and see how that go for you.”

“Don’t stress yourself, Daddy,” Rebel said sweetly as some of the club members began greeting them. Rule, Ryder, and Ransom were let through the locked doors, unable to wait to see Mom. “I am more than happy to fuck them up myself.”

“I heard that!” Axel screeched. “Sleep with your eyes open, girl.”

CJ scrubbed a hand over his face. He really wasn’t in the mood to deal with any of the three little assholes.
