“She doesn’t have a mouth to blow air into her lungs. Her head’s gone.”

One day, Ryan awakened and saw his parents in a new light. His father was a weak motherfucker and his mother was an overbearing cunt full of hot air. She cowered Val and her sons, but Ryan never saw her throw down anywhere else. Even at the club, she fussed and cussed, yet opted for diplomacy. To him, his parents were frauds and his little brother a weak pussy. He wasn’t sure of the exact place and time when his resentment grew to derision and hate.

Likewise, Molly. One day, he awakened, and she was no longer a stupid bitch that he fucked. She was an airhead; however, he believed she cared about him. He hated that she partnered with CJ and harbored some bitterness because of it. A part of him even believed the baby she carried belonged to his cousin, and he’d told her in no uncertain terms what a whore she was.

She could only sob and swear she’d been faithful. In his heart, he believed her. And, in his heart, he was so fucking relieved she didn’t want the baby, he almost cried. Yet, his pride stung that she’d gone to CJfirst.

The motherfucker still didn’t have acne. He still lived in the biggest house with the best playrooms and game rooms. His siblings still looked up to him. He was still quarterback and captain of the football team.

And he was still Outlaw’s son.

At Rory’s announcement, CJ carried Molly to where their cousin stood just inside the bathroom and peeped in.

“Goddamn.”

“I’ll take her to the meatshack.” Rory’s breathless words floated to Ryan.

“The fuck you will. Call Uncle Mort, asshole.”

“We don’t have to call anyone, C. I can have my own body.”

Molly shuddered.

“She’s a fucking girl,” CJ said in disgust, shifting Molly. “Call Uncle Mort so we can do right by her.”

“CJ—”

CJ stomped toward the door. “I’m not fucking listening, Rory. Get your fucking head out of the meatshack. Ryan, watch Molly’s mom to keep Rory away from her.”

He left, carryingRyan’sgirlfriend.

A moment later, the motor on the souped-up pickup rumbled to life.

Rory stumbled out of the bathroom, phone in hand. He looked wild.Unhinged. “Should I call?”

CJ was right. If Ryan didn’t watch over Mrs. Harris, Rory would take her to the meatshack and…and…

He couldn’t finish the thought. Fuck, he couldn’t go near the bathroom. Just the thought of a dismembered body turned Ryan’s stomach.

“Do you think the head is here?”

Ryan swallowed and shoved his hands into his pockets. “No,” he pushed out.

Rory’s eyes gleamed. He glanced over his shoulder and turned. His ringing phone halted him. “It’s Uncle Mort.” Disappointment rang in the words. “CJ must’ve called him.”

Of course he did. The fuckhead knew how to multitask.

Staggering outside, Rory answered the phone, leaving Ryan in the house with a dead woman missing her head.

He dropped to his knees and vomited the breakfast his mother cooked. It seemed as if he’d never stop puking. When he did, he remained on his hands and knees, trembling.

He’d spent enough time in the neighborhood to know it was practically deserted at this hour. Most of the neighbors were nice, though they were pathetic assholes with a dead-end life. However, they would’ve invited him in and he wouldn’t be stuck here without anyone.

Motherfucking Bash must be to blame for this.

Ryan dealt with Bash to bring down CJ. That didn’t mean Ryan wanted Molly hurt, whether or not shewasfucking CJ. He didn’t want her subjected to Bash, Willard,orWallace’s cruelty.

He’d seen Willard kill two motherfuckers on his mother and father’s property by beating them to death. Bash abused bitches. Otherwise, they turned into cunts like Zoann, according to Bash. But Ryan had never seen a dismembered body.
