I swerved, narrowly missing the car in front of me. My fingers tightened around the wheel. I'd nearly got us in an accident that could have resulted in Onyx dead. My blood ran cold as I pictured his lifeless body sprawled out on the dirty streets of the city.

"Careful." I took another punch to the face. Pain seared over the corner of my bottom lip as it split. The coppery tang of blood was a familiar taste that I easily swallowed. I glanced over at Onyx as he got ready to hit me again.

I blew out a breath, reached out for him, and shoved him into the passenger seat. I took the next right turn a bit hard and gritted my teeth as I made sure to avoid jostling him too much. A foot came at me next, and I caught his delicate ankle.

"Are you trying to piss me off?" If he kept this up, we'd end up in an accident, and then I'd lose him before I even got to have him. "You're going to end up dead. Enough." I forced him forward and grabbed the seatbelt just as we hit a red light. I slammed on the brakes and held Onyx tightly against the seat so he didn't get whiplash.

"See how dangerous that was?" I chastised as I firmly grabbed hold of the seatbelt. Onyx was breathing heavily. His platinum blond hair was a mess on top of his head and begged for me to touch the silky strands again.

Distracted, I hadn't watched out for his next attack. Fluffy platinum hair was all I caught out of my peripheral before pain seared up my forearm. My beautiful wonderful man had hismouth on me. His teeth cut into my forearm. The pain radiated up and down to my fingertips. My grip loosened for half a second before I kept moving.

My first love bite from him.

My chest filled with warmth at how sweet Onyx was. I hoped the bite mark was so deep they’d last a lifetime on my skin. Maybe I should get them tattooed.

I used my other hand and buckled him in. "There."

Onyx released me, blood coated his straight white teeth. His left canine was sharper than the other one. Another tidbit I filed away. I was loving this already. He cursed at me in French, or maybe he was telling me how good I tasted. Either way, I soaked it all up. Anything from him felt incredible. He reached for the door handle, and I took off again, noticing the light had turned green.

"No, that's dangerous." I placed my hand over the buckle, not allowing him to unbuckle and jump out of the moving car. I had a feeling he was crazy enough to do it. I would, and that was how I knew he was the one for me.

Something hot and wet hit the side of my face and slid down. I let go of the wheel for a second to swipe it away. I met Onyx's gaze and lapped up the spit and groaned. He tasted sweeter than I thought mixed with the coppery tang of my blood, and it was the best mixture that had ever graced my taste buds.

"Monstre."

I laughed. "I should think of a good pet name for you. I'm not great at naming things. My parents got me a cat once, and I had to come up with his name. Want to know what I named him?"

"Fuck you. I want out of here, you big, dimwitted asshole."

"Orangy. He was a big orange fur ball. Everyone hated the name but it was the only one he responded to. After that I wasn't allowed to name anything. But don't worry, I'll come up with a good one for you."

"Are you an idiot?" Onyx shook his head. "No, scratch that. I know you're a fucking moron. What the hell do you want with me?"

"Everything." I winked at him. "And nothing."

"That makes no sense."

I shrugged as I maneuvered around the city. "I mean what I say. I will never lie to you."

His nails dug into my flesh, tearing away at it, but I wasn't removing my hand. His safety was more important to me than my very own life.

"We're here." I parked and turned to face him. I anticipated the next punch and I grabbed hold of his slender wrists before he was able to pull back. I kissed his reddened knuckles. "Careful, I don't want you hurt. Next time, hit me with something less precious." I thought about it, and as much as I loved his hands on me, I didn't want him injuring himself.

His breathing was labored as he stared up at me. There was no fear and I loved that even more about him. People saw my size and instantly ran scared. Onyx, on the other hand, just glared at me like he couldn't wait to slit my throat. His eyes up close were more gray than blue, reminding me of a winter storm.

I unbuckled and was out of the car in record time. I ran over to his side and opened the door. Onyx's foot landed squarely in my midsection, knocking the wind out of my lungs. I grunted as I stepped back slightly. I caught his foot and lowered it down to the ground. His footprint would no doubt show up later that night. He was littering my body with marks and making me the happiest man on the planet.

"Why did you bring me to a church?” Onyx asked.

Our hands were locked together as I pulled him closer. "My mother wouldn't accept it any other way. She is a devout Catholic." I kissed the top of his head, unable to resist anylonger. He smelled divine. I breathed him in as long as I could. The jab to the throat made air scarce as I coughed and choked.

"A sick freak like you, I shouldn't even be surprised."

What was he talking about?

Damian and Nash came running out. Damian was only three years older than me but he acted as if he was ten years older most days. Nash was right next to him, grimacing my way. He'd been Damian's best friend growing up, and the day his parents had died in a car accident, he'd gone from a family friend to a brother. Our parents had instantly adopted him. My mother and father both had come from huge families and had planned one of their own. I had more siblings than most families. It was pure chaos at any given time but it was all I knew.

"Where the fuck have you been? And what happened to you?" Damian asked. He looked me over before glancing down at Onyx.
