"You literally live together. Do you have to drool over him all the time?" Nash asked.
"If you had someone like Onyx by your side, you'd understand."
My brother looked at me like I'd lost my mind. “Hell no. He's what I'd avoid at all cost. Someone willing to kill me in my sleep.” Nash looked visibly appalled at the idea. "Didn’t he try to kill you? Multiple times.”
All I could do was smile in response. Onyx could, in fact, murder me in my sleep. Shit, my husband didn't need me to be asleep in order to achieve it. He'd made it known plenty of times already just how capable he was at killing.
“True love. You will want it too.”
"No, thank you. Sounds like poison.” He shook his head, snapping his fingers in front of my face as I sought out Onyx again. “Damn, you will see him tonight if all goes according to plan.”
“This is taking too long.”
“No, you’re crazy, the night only just started.”
Everyone was out to get me, I swear. No one was on my side. I was obviously going through withdrawals from not being near my husband.
“Is he here yet?” I asked.
Nash nodded. "Yep, Prince just sent confirmation he's here. You remember the plan, right?"
"Try to not bash his brains out in front of a room full of people." There was probably more to it but the main thing everyone kept shouting at me was “no killing the target before kill time” or whatever. The only reason I was holding back was for my sweet bloodthirsty husband. I knew exactly how badly he wanted to be the one to give the killing blow.
Bet he’s going to look sexy as fuck covered in blood.
My brother stared at me like I had two heads instead of one. "You know, I'm starting to feel sorry for Onyx." He shook his head and started to move.
"What does that mean?" I chased after him, needing an explanation. He evaded me like we were kids again and I had chicken pox. I hated being sick all alone. Anytime I caught something, I made sure my brothers were right there with me. They’d learned to evade me the moment they heard I was sick.
Fucker.
Damian caught my attention. His mouth didn’t move, but I could practically hear him telling me to pay attention. I rolled my shoulders back, noticing the man walking through the door with a bodyguard on each side of him. A smile sported on his smug face. His hair was combed back, showing off the salt-and-pepper hair. The corner of his eyes were crinkled up like he was enjoying his conversation with the man next to him.
He won’t be smiling when my fists cave in his fucking teeth.
I curled my fingers into a fist imagining doing just that. How satisfying it would be to break his grin.
Bella.
With a quick scan of the room, I found him with ease. Like me, he was watching Régis as he made his way farther into the club. I wanted to go to him, but I held back by sheer willalone. The look that came across Onyx’s face was one mixed with bloodthirst and pure hatred.
He needs this.
“Lucero, ready?” Nash said, appearing next to me again.
It wasn’t about me. Tonight was for my bella and Adam. Tonight they’d be putting to rest a monster that haunted them both. Adam wasn’t around, but hopefully, he’d get some peace from knowing his abuser would never come for him or any children ever again.
“Yeah.”
"Showtime," Nash said. He put the tablet away and headed toward Damian.
I relaxed the best I could but all I wanted to do was grab Régis and break his neck. I followed behind him and flanked Damian like usual. All I had to do was stay silent.
We didn’t have to go toward Régis; he made his way over to Damian.
“Thank you for the invite. I’ve heard about your illusive casino nights.”
Damian, to his credit, was able to speak normally. There wasn’t any indication that he wanted the bastard dead. “Figured it was about time. We had a few spots open up.”
