Endless Sky,was the title of the art piece.
“Do you want it?”
Onyx shrugged. “I’ll probably put in an offer for it later.” He turned, and I was dragged to another one. We went piece after piece. Some of them weren’t all that remarkable but the entire experience was surreal as I spent it with Onyx.
By the time we came out of the exhibit, the sun had set and the city lights were on full display.
I tugged Onyx close to me to keep him warm. Although it wasn’t freezing out, it wasn’t hot either. I pulled my phone out and snapped a picture of our hands clasped together.
“What are you doing now?” Onyx asked.
“Documenting our first date together.” I must have said it a bit louder than I thought because an elderly lady stopped in her tracks and smiled our way.
“Would you like for me to take your photo?” she asked.
Perfect.
“Yes.”
At the same time, Onyx said “No.”
She smiled at the both of us and took my offered phone. Taking a few steps back, I pulled Onyx close to me.
“Please, bella.”
Onyx sighed, but I knew he was going to give in by the way he fixed his hair, running his long fingers through the soft strands. He turned around and fussed over me, pulling my shirt and brushing something off my shoulders.
“Get behind me and place your arms around me,” Onyx instructed.
I did as my husband instructed. I leaned down a little and breathed him in. I wanted to stay like this a lot longer thanit would take to get a picture. My stomach tightened and my mouth watered as I sucked in all the air around us.
“Ready?” the elderly woman asked.
I nodded as Onyx pulled at his shorts a little. “Yes.”
I heard her counting backwards but it was nothing more than background noise. It blended in with the sounds of the city. My sole focus was Onyx. The way he slightly tilted his head and the heat of his hand as it rested over mine. Or how perfectly he fit against me. The moment could last an eternity, and I still wouldn’t get enough of holding him.
Before I was ready, Onyx was pulling out of my grasp. He headed over to the elderly lady and took my phone back. He thanked her and came back over to me.
“Let’s see how good she did.” He went through the pictures, his face pinched as he swiped through the four she’d taken. “You’re not even looking forward for any of them.”
I took my offered phone and instantly set the picture to my home screen saver. “It’s perfect.”
“You’re just staring at me with a goofy grin on your face.”
“But you’re so beautiful, I can’t help it.”
Onyx took my hand back into his. “Whatever, weirdo.”

By the time we stumbled into the door, I had bags on my arms from both the bakery and the stores. I put them down and took the ones with food into the kitchen. Onyx followed behind me, taking up residence on the counter.
“Nothing like shopping to relieve some stress.”
He enjoyed himself on our date. My stomach twisted with butterflies as I put everything away. My back was to my husband, and I could feel his gaze on me like a caress. It took everything in me not to turn around and drop to my knees.
“Did you have fun?” Onyx asked.
