“Oh! Adam’s here!” She squeaked quietly. “Can I go say hi?”

“Yeah, why not?” Sure, she was grounded, but it would be weird not to let her say hi right?

“How’s my hair?”

I gave her a once over and nodded. “Hair is good. Makeup’s still in place. You look great.”

Beaming, she ran off to say hi, leaving the three of us standing there once again. “Is she right? Will Conrad feel weird hanging out with twenty-something guys?”

Hell, did Conrad feel weird hanging out withme?

“Maybe,” Enzo said. “I don’t know.”

“It’s worth a try, right? Unless either of you have forty-something guy friends I’m not aware of.” Haylee said.

Enzo’s eyes fell to Elijah across the bookstore.

“Enzo,no,” I said firmly.

“Why not?”

“They do have a lot in common,” Haylee said.

Enzo started ticking off items on her fingers. “They’re about the same age. They’re both dads to teenagers. They—

“They both likeme.” I interrupted. “Seriously, guys. You didn’t see them a few weeks ago. It looked like they were about to have a fucking brawl right here in the middle of the bookstore.”

“Elijah has a crush on you?” Haylee whispered.

I shrugged. “I had no idea until he made a comment the day Harper met Adam.”

Enzo sighed. “Okay, look. Let’s set up a guy’s night thing for now with Simon, Finn, and Conrad. And maybe you can consider something between Elijah and Conrad?” Enzo pressed. “Just think about it. Their kids are dating—or probably will be from the way they were flirting and making eyes at each other just a minute ago. It would make sense that they hang out and be friends.”

I rolled my eyes. “Harper is grounded. She’s not dating Adam.”

“Ummmm…” Haylee pointed behind me. “That’s not what it looked like.”

“What do you mean?” I turned around to find them, but they were nowhere to be seen. “Where’d they go?”

Haylee shrugged. “They were there just a minute ago. They walked away holding hands.”

“Dammit,” I muttered and took off in search of them. I said she could say hi. Not wander the store hand in hand with him.

I peeked down the Young Adult, Fantasy, and Romance sections of the store, but didn’t see them anywhere.

After walking down nearly every aisle, my blood ran cold at the sound of a moan.

A fuckingmoan.

There was only one aisle left… the stupid history aisle.

The same history aisle Conrad and I made out in a couple weeks ago.

Holding my breath, I turned to peek down there and sure enough, Adam had Harper against the bookshelf, lips pressed to hers.

And his hands were on her ass.

Well, crap on a cracker.
