“Who does? You?” he growled.
“All of us. We’re a team, after all. Aren’t we?”
Kiel’s frustration boiled over, and he pulled away from me, heading even deeper into the forest. I watched him go for a split second.
No.
I moved, putting myself in front of him, my hand raised to stop him. He walked into it, forcing me back a step, my fingers spread between his pecs, feeling the strength, the power in his muscles.
“Jada,” he warned.
“You owe us.”
“I don’t owe anyone,” he growled, reaching up and grabbing my arm at the same time I tried to pull it away violently.
The move yanked him forward and into me.
Our bodies touched, and fire spread through me as his cock pressed into my stomach. A hunger awoke as I arched up into him, hissing at the flames searing my skin wherever his body touched mine.
Kiel growled deeply in the back of his throat, and the dam broke. He leaned in, his lips hungrily seeking out mine as he devoured me with a kiss, all but sucking the soul out of my body as his pent-up demand swept over the levee and into me, washing away any sense of restraint.
My wolf howled a lustful cry, the complete opposite of the corner of my brain hammering away at me, telling me it was a terrible idea, that I should pull back, that I needed to stop it.
Hands wrapped around my waist, yanking me closer, holding me firm even as the sheer power of his grip stole any remaining breath from my lungs. I moaned ever so softly into him.
Behind Kiel, a twig snapped.
I pulled back sharply, looking around his broad, muscular shoulder—
Only to lock gazes with a pair of big, brown eyes filled with surprised hurt as they took in the scene before them.
Without a word, Clive walked stiffly back toward the clearing.
Chapter Twenty-Seven
“Clive,” I called, but he didn’t stop, didn’t even react. He just kept walking out of sight.
Kiel’s hands on my waist gently pushed some distance between us again, dampening the inferno blazing between my legs only slightly.
“Go,” he said. “It’s okay. He won’t understand.”
I tilted my head up at him. “Idon’t understand,” I said plaintively, shaking my head as I regained control of my limbs and body.
“I know,” Kiel said with a wry smile. “So, go.”
“Are you—”
The tiny jerk of his head cut me off.
“He’ll try to push you away. Don’t let him. Not now.”
I looked at him incredulously. “Are you … are you saying you want me to be withhim?”
Kiel nodded.
“But, and correct me if I’m wrong here, but did you not just kiss me? Like, hard?”
“This will be better for you,” Kiel said, withdrawing into his cold, distant shell. “It’ll be better for everyone if you go to him.”
