Note to self:
I feel like I have to pinch myself every morning when I wake up. I simply cannot believe how well Seek & Speak is doing! We already have over one hundred active participants, and they really seem to be invested in it! They are digging and sharing, questioning and encouraging. I’m in awe. Of course we have a few haters on there as we expected, but to be honest, the participants are the ones who are handling it. They basically tell the rude ones that if they don’t like the forum, to go somewhere else… and it’s working! I guess it really is like the childhood bully; if the haters don’t get the response they want, they go away. Perfect.
The forum is everything we could have hoped for. We know that it will probably turn out to be short-lived, as most trends are, but in the meantime, Seek & Speak has become the talk of the school. People have mentioned it to me in classes, Quick said he hears people talking about it in the hallways pretty much every day, and today I happened upon a conversation between a teacher and some students that made me so happy I almost squealed and revealed that I was eavesdropping. These three girls who are on Student Council—I think their names are Julia, Sondra, and Talia—were talking to their advisor about the televised morning announcements. They want to bring the fluoride issue to the attention of the entire student body and suggest using fluoride-free products! The advisor, Mrs. Gillerrels, was seemingly impressed and asked them how they heard of the issue and became so passionate about it. The one named Talia answered, and I still can’t believe her response.
“Through Quick and Quinn!”
I’m dead serious! That’s what she said! And I didn’t even put in the exclamation point. That’s how she said it! “Through Quick and Quinn!” Holy crap, I am still in shock.
Through Quick and Quinn.
Through thick and thin.
Feels like fate.
