“Someone needs to get Christine… Please.” Anthony stayed on his knees, his hand laced in hers.
A guard nodded, “I’ll go and bring her here.”
Emersyn placed her hands over Rory’s body, her magic flowed into Rory. Her body glowed with the power of Emersyn. Sarifena and Onika knelt beside her, placing their hands against Emersyn’s arm. Their power infused with Emersyn’s, creating an extraordinary force. Amalee and Dimitra stood, holding each other as they watched the three queens work to save Rory.
“Your Majesty,” Commander Gentry tapped Amalee, “We cannot find Constable Graham or Luca Holsten.”
“What do you mean you can’t find them?” Amalee turned to her commander.
“We are searching the bodies, but neither men have turned up.”
Dimitra gripped Amalee, “Go… you need to find them. Onika cannot know right now – she is needed here. I’ll stay here and wait in case they show up over here.”
She nodded, walking off with the commander in search of her and Onika’s husbands. The last time she saw Luca, he’d been knee-deep in battle. She hadn’t realized Constable Graham was on the battlefield. Closing her eyes, she prayed they were not one of the dead.
Dimitra stiffened as arms wrapped around her, “take a breath, my love.”
“Jason,” she leaned into him.
“She will be ok. I believe they will save her and the babies.”
“It’s not just her…” Dimitra turned toward him, “Amalee and Onika’s husbands are missing.”
“Missing?”
“I fear they are among the dead.”
“Fuck,” he pulled her against him, “does Onika know?”
“Not yet.”
“It’ll be alright.”
“What did they do with Helix’s body? I want to see him. I need to be sure it’s really over.”
“You’re too late… Constable Harold and Commander Critcher burned his remains.” Dimitra sighed, “What will happen to the dead?”
“That’s up to you and the others. They can be buried or burned like their leader.”
“Our men are to be given an honorable funeral. The others can be burned – they are not worth the dignity of a burial.”
“I’ll let the Constable know.”
“Thank you,” she leaned into his hold, “I cannot believe this has happened.”
Dimitra jumped when she heard the cries of another. Turning from Jason, she watched as Anthony held Christine in his arms. She was beside herself as Emersyn, Sarifena, and Onika worked to restore Rory’s life.
“Your Majesty,” Captain Brady approached them.
“Captain,” Jason nodded, “What is it?”
“We’ve found Luca Holsten.”
“Take me to him,” Dimitra stepped out of Jason’s hold and followed her Captain. By his tone, she feared she would be telling the Onyx Queen grave news.

Dimitra sucked in a lung full of air as she spotted Luca. He was sitting on the ground, leaning against a tree. His shirt was stained red and torn. He held a young man in his lap, his palm pressed against a gaping wound.
