“Oh no…” Sarifena laughed, “that could be dangerous.”
“Shut up.” Onika glared at her. “Maybe it’s time we reunited the six kingdoms.”
“Wait,” Dimitra sat up, “What does that mean?”
“What if we were one kingdom, not six separate. And instead of six queens, we have six royals on a council. The six of us, ruling together as one.”
“Wow, Onika. You’re the last person I would have thought to come up with an idea like this.” Sarifena held her gaze. “But I have to admit… I like the way it sounds.”
“I think you and Dimitra should be the head of the council,” Amalee spoke.
“What? No…, we rule equally as one or remain separate.”
“Hear me out,” Amalee took a breath, “We are all-powerful individually, but you and Dimitra hold deeper magic.”
“That may be true, but we need to be one. Each holding the same clout – no one above or below the other.”
“I think it’s a great idea.” Emersyn leaned her head against Drake’s shoulder, “Would we still live in our kingdoms?”
“That’s the other thing,” Onika glanced at Luca, “I thought we should build a new castle. One in the center of all six realms.”
“And do what with the other castles?” Sarifena questioned.
“It will be the place we go to when our children ascend to the throne.”
“I like it, what about you guys?” Emersyn spoke.
“I agree… we just need to ask Rory.” Sarifena nodded her head.
“I’m in, too. And I bet Rory will like this idea as well.” Dimitra cuddled against Jason. A sense of calm and freedom filled her.
“Jason,” Amalee smiled, “Julie should be here in a little while. She’s ecstatic about seeing you.”
“Your Majesty, I owe you a great deal of gratitude for taking care of her when I couldn’t.”
“Please… Call me Amalee, we’re family after all. And no thanks necessary. We’ve come to love her as our own.”
Jason could see the turmoil on her face. Amalee was having a hard time parting with his sister, Julie had truly become part of their life.
“I want you to know that it is my intention to give her a choice on where to live. If she decides being with you is what her heart desires, I won’t stop her.”
“Really?” Amalee’s face grew lighter, “I’ve come to love her as my own. And Baxter thinks of her as his sister.”
“Well… then we will let her decide, and I will support her decision. I just want her to be happy. We’ve lost so much.”
Anthony burst through the door, causing everyone to jump. “Anthony,” Emersyn stood, “Is something wrong?”
“No…,” he took off the green scrub cap, “everything is perfect.”
“Well… Don’t keep us waiting,” Dimitra stood as well.
“I’m a father.”
The room burst into cheers. Emersyn and Dimitra hugged, laughing and crying at the same time. Onika slapped his back, “Congratulations.”
“Are you going to tell us what you had?” Drake spoke, pulling his wife against his chest.
Dimitra kissed Jason. Everything was happening as it should. Her family surrounded her, and now new life gave a message of hope. They watched as Anthony grinned from ear to ear.
