Chapter 15: Paul
Dan: Fuck you whore. You’ll regret this…
What the fuck was this guy thinking? My wolf bristled at his words, regret this? He would be the only one to regret it.
“Carly, who did you say this guy was?”
Taking her phone, her eyes went wide, “Dan – his name is Dan… um,” she giggled nervously, “I didn’t get his last name. He’s a new student at the university – a senior. He transferred to do his last year here. Something about he had to come home and deal with a family matter.”
“Well, he isn’t going to threaten you and get away with it,” Paul stood, “Jensen, let’s go pay the college a visit.”
Jensen stood, “Paul – think this through. We can’t go beating up some stranger.”
“I didn’t say beat him up… let’s just let him know who he’s fucking with.”
Carly stood, coming to stand beside me, “Paul – he isn’t worth your time. It’ll be fine. I don’t live in the dorm anymore, so I will only see him in class or on campus. And what can he possibly do? Say some nasty things about me? I could care less.”
“Carly, I won’t let anyone threaten you. My wolf is tearing at my insides to protect you.”
She ran her finger down my bicep, “I saw you, you know.”
“What?” shaking myself from my anger, “Saw me?”
“Yep – a few days ago on campus.”
“I wasn’t on campus… what are you talking about?”
“Well, not on campus exactly… more like the wood line.”
Oh, it was coming back to me. I stood at the edge of campus watching her walk to her car. “You knew that was me?”
“Yes.”
Shaking my head, I pulled her tight against me, kissing the top of her head, “I watched you often Carly. If I couldn’t have you, I was going to at least watch over you.”
“I know. I always felt like someone was there. I’m just glad to know it was you, and that I wasn’t losing my mind.”
Breaking free from her tight hug, “Ok – back to the subject at hand… what are we going to do about Dan?”
“Nothing.”
“Nothing,” I shook my head, “Carly, you can’t ignore the threat.”
“I won’t ignore it, but I won’t let him scare me either. He’s just pissed he didn’t get all this,” She moved her hands over her body, sending electric chills through mine, “this… is yours.”
“Fine… I won’t go rough him up. But you have to promise to let me know if he gives you any problems. Ok?”
“Deal… now, why don’t you and Jensen go shift and run off some steam. Dylan and I have wedding stuff to talk about.”
“Jensen?” turning towards him, “What do you think… feel like a run?”
“Yep,” he kissed Dylan, “let’s leave these two to plan. We’ll all go out later for dinner.”
“Be safe my love,” Dylan called after him as he went out the front door.
“Carly… I’ll be back.”
“I know.” She smiled at me as I ran out the door, shifting before I ever made it to the trees. Turning my head, I saw her watching me from the kitchen window. She kissed her hand and pressed it to the glass as my wolf darted into the thicket.
