Chapter 25: Carly

I paced, staring out the front window waiting for headlights to appear. They had been gone for over an hour, and still no word.

“Sit down, please… you’re giving me a headache,” Dylan threw a pillow at me.

“I can’t – it’s making me nuts not knowing anything,” just as I turned to sit down, headlights appeared in the driveway, “They’re back.”

“Haley!” Dylan stood, rushing towards the door.

“What is it? Did Jensen tell you something? Is someone hurt?”

“Calm down… He said they got Carter, but he’s injured. Help me get the door open. We need to get him on the couch.”

I rushed around her, snatching the door open just as Jensen emerged from the car. The back door opened, and Kai got out, looking broken, and covered in blood.

“Kai – Oh my god. You’re hurt!” I rushed down the steps towards her.

“It’s not mine. It’s Carters,” She pushed passed me, taking the steps two at a time.

Turning I saw Paul, pulling Carter’s unconscious body out, “Carly, can you get the door?”

Rushing around the back of the car, I pushed the door shut. Seeing Carter, I sucked in a breath, “Fuck, his leg… will he be ok?”

“I don’t know.” Paul hurried up the steps, me close behind him. Laying him on the couch, Haley looked at his injuries.

“I need Roxy – she’s upstairs, can someone go get her. I…. I can’t stop the bleeding.”

I turned, nearly killing myself as I bound up the steps. “Roxy!” I banged on her door, “They need you, downstairs.”

Roxy immerged from her room, “Did they find him?”

“Yes, and Haley can’t get the bleeding to stop.”

Grabbing me by the hand, she teleported us to the living room. The sensation left me dizzy, wobbling on my feet I nearly fell over. Paul moved quickly and steadied me.

“Sorry, I didn’t want to waste any time.”

Roxy had already begun to work her magic. As she was chanting, Haven and Stephanie walked in. Seeing Carter in this state, they joined Roxy in healing him.

“Baby – can you help?” Jensen nodded towards Carter’s still sleeping form.

“Ah – I shouldn’t I haven’t been feeling very good…” She looked away, trying to hide her face.

“He’s ok. We got the bleeding to stop. He will be ok – I just don’t know if we were able to reverse the damage Dante caused to his leg. He had crushed the bone. We won’t know anything for a few weeks.”

Dylan moved to stand by Jensen, he pulled her into a hug. Paul squeezed me tighter, dropping a kiss on my head.

“Will he wake up?” Kai walked out of the shadows, still covered in his blood.

“Kai – honey. You should go shower. He’s still resting and likely will not wake for several hours,” Cassandra looked at her daughter.

“Put him in my room. I want to make sure he is ok.” She said matter of fact, as she turned and melted into the dark hallway.

“Paul, can you help me move him?”

Paul broke from the hold we shared and helped ease Carter off the couch. Everyone else had already left, leaving me, Dylan, Jensen and Paul. They carefully carried him upstairs, placing him in Kai’s bed.

“Ok – we are going to head home. I need a shower.” Jensen stepped into the hallway, “From the smell of you… you need one too.”
