“Why can’t you?” Now, I was getting somewhere.
“Because I don’t want to remember. I don’t want to relive it,” she whimpers.
I still inside her, lower myself until I’m just holding my weight off her, but she can feel my body completely. “Talk to me, baby, who hurt you?”
Her whimper turns to a sob, and she gives it to me. “When I was eighteen, I went to a party and was raped. Not just by one, but multiple guys.”
My blood runs cold. My eyes blur with rage. It takes all my control to keep it in check.
“What happened?” I ask, my voice going terse. I don’t pull out of her depths, but I roll us until she’s on top. I move us again so that I’m sitting up with my head against the headboard with her in my arms. “Tell me, Marla, give me the pain you’ve kept inside you for so long.”
I didn’t have to ask if her family knew. I just knew they didn’t.
Marla’s breath hitches, and she curls into my front, her arms around my back. “They tied me down. I wasn’t on a bed like how you had me. My wrists were bound to a beam together. My legs were spread and bound similarly, but to links that were attached to the floor. I couldn’t move unless they adjusted me. They took turns on me. The only part of me they didn’t touch was my ass. West found me before they could get to that part. They weren’t done with me. They intended to play a lot longer than they got to. By the time West got to me, they all had turns. To keep me from screaming, they made sure to keep my mouth occupied.”
Her breath hitches, and her tears soak my chest.
“I’d been a virgin.”
Now, that right there has me ready to kill them all.
“What happened to them?” I needed to know who to kill and where to find them.
“West had called Calyx. They took care of them for the time being, but several months after it happened, I made sure they allsuffered for what they did to me. They’re all sitting in a federal penitentiary serving a hefty sentence for crimes they committed. Not the one against me, of course, but other ones. I made sure they knew it was me who saw to that, so in a way they’re still in there for crimes against me.”
Well, hell. I’ll have to find out which one and make sure to make their lives more horrible than they already are.
“Calyx took you on and trained you after that, didn’t he?”
“He did,” she confirms with a nod and raises her head. “He always made sure that I wasn’t in over my head. It’s why West and I always work together.”
“You didn’t on this last one,” I pointed out. There’s no way they could’ve.
“We worked together in a way.” She shrugs. “He’s always in contact with me. It’s how we work.”
I shift her a bit over me, her body working my cock still inside her. Marla’s lips part a bit, and a blush comes back to her cheeks.
“None of this changes things between us, Marla. I’m not letting you go.” Knowing what I know now, it makes me understand her all that much more. We have more in common than she even knows. But do I think I can tell her my secrets?
I wasn’t too sure I could do it. Right now, it didn’t matter.
“Kyan,” she whispers, tears shimmering in her eyes.
Straightening a bit, I tighten an arm around her waist, spear my fingers in her hair, and bring her mouth to mine. “I mean it, Mar, you’re mine,” I say right before claiming her mouth. Words won’t show her what I want to tell her. My body will, though, and I plan to do just that and show her.
I was able to strip the layers away from her, exposing what I knew was mine. Now, I was going to enjoy it just as I did last night, and I intend to keep doing.
CHAPTER FOURTEEN
MARLA
I don’t know what it is about Keys. I either find myself wanting to open up to him or running away all at once. My emotions seem to want to open up to him in a way, but I’ve always kept them close at hand with a tight grip on them.
I opened up to him without much of a fight, and that’s not like me. I don’t do that. I’m not the person who lets anyone in, and yet he’s always had a way of weaseling in past my defenses.
My body was never going to be the same again, not after having Keys spend the past two days straight, using it against me. Okay, so that’s not quite true. He didn’t use my body against me. What he did was just more powerful than any truth serum ever could be.
His touch alone had tingles along my skin. Having all of him, I don’t even have the words to explain it. It was just so much. All at once. Nothing could’ve ever prepared me for Keys’s tactics.
