Means I need to take out the bitch that’s threatening it all. If I can get her out of the equation permanently, I’ll have nothing else to worry about.

How to do that is the question?

Stepping into the main room of the clubhouse, I find my brothers all sitting around. None of the women were in sight. Jade, I knew, was on bed rest and Rosemary was most likely with her. Rory had taken Kale for me. Noelle would have, but she’d stayed home when Cyprus came to the clubhouse. She and Bride were going to have a girls’ day. Whatever the hell that is.

“How the meeting with Mateo and Cordova go?” I ask, sitting between Viper and Aries. I already noticed that neither man was in the room.

“We’re all in for the alliance together,” Viper remarks and explains how Cordova plans to take out the trash with the fight club. He needs us to be there when he does it. To show support. Said a man named Carmelo Silva is after his position. Thinks if we’re standing at his back, Carmelo will back down. Mateoagrees with this. He knows Carmelo. Says he’s a sick bastard.”

“Carmelo has a fighter. She’s never lost any fights. Never went up against Rosemary when she fought, but from what I’ve found in the information Cordova gave us access to, she’s got one more fight.” Vulture grunts from his spot across from me. Laptop in front of him. “Girl’s pretty.”

He turns the laptop in our direction for us to see what the girl looks like. At first sight of her, tension pulls at my spine. I know that face. I know it because the man sitting across from me, next to Kevlar, has been looking for that face for years. He’s got a picture of her he carries in his wallet.

“Sabor,” I call, getting his attention from him looking at his phone.

“What?” he grumbles, lifting his head.

“Look at the screen, brother.” I nod at screen of Vulture’s laptop.

I’ve known Sabor for years alongside a friend of ours, Remy. All of us were in the same unit, and I knew their history as they knew mine. I knew that Remy had two sisters. One of them had gone missing while we’d been on that last deployment. No one had been able to figure out what happened to her. She vanished into thin air.

Remy lost his mind when he found out andended up going against orders when he was told to finish the mission we were on. He’d gone AWOL on us. None of us had heard from him. But both Sabor and I had looked for her. Sabor kept the picture of her because he’d actually gotten it from the other sister. He wanted to make sure he knew what she looked like.

Sabor hadn’t been able to find anything on her disappearance in the four years she’s been gone. We don’t even think Remy’s heard any news of her.

Sabor’s brows furrow, and he does as I tell him. He takes one look at the screen and curses. “Son of a bitch. That’s Haleigh.”

“Haleigh?” Viper looks between the two of us. “Remy’s little sister?”

Viper knew who Remy was. Though he’d disappeared, he’s a connection we have to the underground world if we need it.

“Yeah,” Sabor snarls, his face a mask of fury. “Four years she’s been missing, and she’s been under our nose for over a year.”

“We’ll get her out of there, brother. Contact Remy and let him know we’ve found her,” Cyprus growls.

“We’re gonna have to play this right to get her out of there,” Vulture states, turning the laptop back to him. “If we go after her now, we could fuck everything up in the process.”

I hate to admit it, but he’s right. We’ve got to make sure that Cordova doesn’t lose the upper hand in all this.

“When’s the next fight?” Kevlar asks.

“A month,” Vulture answers.

“So, we have a month to plan and get her out of there.” I look to Sabor to see him fuming. “I know it’s not ideal, brother, but think about it. We don’t even know where he keeps her when not at the fights. We wait for the right moment to strike; we’ll get them all. Cordova keeps his place, and we take out those who go against the change. Including the one responsible for taking Haleigh four years ago.”

“According to the contract, Carmelo’s had her for two years,” Vulture says without looking up. “Don’t know anything other than that.”

“Vulture, look into as much as you can about this Carmelo Silva fucker. I want all the information you can get on him. I want it before Remy gets here,” Viper orders and looks to me. “Whatever the fuck is going on with Kale’s mother, get it taken care. We don’t need more shit to deal with on top of this.”

“Don’t worry, Prez, I’ve got it handled. I’m heading to see the bitch now while Jacqueline is sleeping.”

“Need someone to come with you?” Cyprus asks.

“Wouldn’t mind the company.” I shrug and get to my feet. The last thing I need to deal with right now is more shit on top of shit.

“I’ll come with you,” Kevlar grunts and gets to his feet.

“Me too,” Aries says, standing.
