“Do you think about me much?” Lake asks out of the blue, and I side eye her while stirring the sauce she is supposed to be cooking for us, but instead she’s leaning against the counter watching me in nothing but my shirt, her hair up in a messy bun.
Fuck me, she’s gorgeous.
“Why do you ask?” I question as I turn the sauce down, then move so I’m standing in front of her, and she has to tilt her head to look at me.
She clears her throat before saying quietly, “I was just curious…”
I smirk as I grip her hips, then lift her onto the counter, making her gasp, before I stand between her legs. Cupping her cheek, I ask, “Do you think of me a lot, shorty?”
Her cheeks redden with a blush that I fucking love, and she admits, “I do, but I don’t know if it’s healthy.”
Fuck, this girl is too sweet for me.
I lean forward and gently kiss her lips, caressing them before I whisper, “I think of you every second of every hour of every day you are not with me.”
She melts into me, her upper body sagging against me as she presses her lips against mine, and I sigh with contentment before pushing my tongue into her mouth as my cock hardens.
I think dinner may get cold…
I squeeze my eyes tight. She’s my one, I know this, I understand this, but fuck….
The shit I said to her, have said over the past few months since finding out Cherri was her mama, the shit she’s said to me…
“I swear, Viper, you put one disease-riddled finger on me, I’ll punch you hard,” Lake threatens me when I go to grab her arm so she doesn’t cause shit.
Blade wants to speak to his sister, so I’m here to drag her away, so she doesn’t have a choice, but she moves, and I won’t allow her to get in between them, I fucking refuse it.
Without thinking, I run my mouth and reply, “If anyone is diseased, then it would be you, you know, considering who your mother is.”
“Ah fuck, he’s done it now,” I hear Psycho mumble as Lake’s face reddens with anger.
Fuck I really shouldn’t have said that…
What the fuck was I thinking?
“Well, you not only screwed Cherri but also made out with Caitlyn, and considering you are the only man I’ve ever been with, I guess I do need to get myself tested, huh?” she sneers before looking at Skylar while I flinch.
“I’ll be back once the dogs have been removed,” she says to Skylar, and my jaw tenses as she links arms with Raya, Ivy’s best friend, and they both walk out.
Mother fucker!
My phone rings, getting me out of my bad fucking memories, and I clear my throat and grab it. Seeing it’s Psycho, I answer, putting the phone to my ear.
“She lost the kid,” Psycho states, not giving me a chance to speak.
Fuck.
I swallow hard, looking down at my feet, trying to ignore the urge to call her. It fucking explains why she called me, though. I told her she can always contact me, but I guess I lied.
Feels like I lied about a lot of things to her, just like she did with me.
He continues, “She was five and was run over in a hit and run, died at the scene after Lake spent twenty minutes doing CPR with the kid's mother begging her not to stop, even accused her of killing her daughter when she did stop.”
Double fuck.
“Is she alright?” I ask quietly, my stomach tightening.
“No,” he answers honestly, and I squeeze my eyes tight. He continues, “Ivy is setting the guest room up. She uh, fuck brother,” he sighs, “her anger is going and her pain, everything that has happened between you two, it’s coming out. I overheard her tell Cupcake she feels lost and confused before she broke down in tears.”
