I may have let it slip to my new coworkers that I have an ex-husband. Now they’re fascinated with the details, specifically with him.

Why wouldn’t they be? He’s gorgeous, has exceptional skills in the bedroom, and is determined to win me back.

But there’s a problem.He doesn’t exist.

The bigger problem? I have to produce him to save my job.

This is where you come in.

I’m seeking someone to play a smitten ex-husband for two weeks. You’ll need to remember our love story—details matter when it comes to romance! I need you to be prepared to travel in-state at a moment’s notice. We may be in close proximity; sharing a bed may be required.

One more thing—kisses are required for optics as necessary.

If this sounds interesting or, at the very least, entertaining, let me know.

Signed,

Your Future Ex-Wife

“See?” I take the notepad and stuff it into my bag. “That’s …no. Funny, but no.”

“Suit yourself.”

I twist to hang the bag on the back of my chair. “I think I’d rather find an actual husband than post that. I …”

As I start to turn back, my eyes latch on to a pair of the greenest eyes I’ve ever seen.

Screw. Me.

Lord have mercy.

Pheromones ripple through the air as my gaze collides with the man sitting behind me. The corners of his lips curl into a smirk, sending shivers snaking down my spine.

Jess Carmichael is nothing short of a dream.

Thick, sandy-colored hair styled in a crew cut with tapered sides gives him a boy-next-door vibe. His smile—complete with full lips ready to be kissed.

Or maybe that’s just me.

His jaw is sharp, and his shoulders tell tales of lifting heavy things all day. The scruff dotting his cheeks—begging to scratch my inner thighs—only draws more attention to his fantastic green eyes that twinkle like they hold a lifetime’s worth of secrets.

Or, again, maybe that’s just me.

It’s amazing that God continued to make men after he wrapped Jess. He’d already crafted perfection.

“Did I hear you say that you’re looking for a husband?” he asks, rubbing a finger along his bottom lip.

“You heard no such thing.”

“Are you sure? Because I’m pretty damn certain I heard you say that you want to find a husband.”

I grin. “You heard me say that I’d rather find a husband than go through with Kerissa’s silliness.”

His smile incinerates my insides. “If you change your mind, I’m up for the job.”
