“It wasn’t about just being teammates. I’m a veteran. You’re a rookie. There’s no fucking reason to go that hard.”

“It’sfine.”

Auston pulled away so they could look at each other properly. “It’s not fine. I’m not gonna talk like that to you ever again, and if I do, you have my permission to knock me out.”

Chase rolled his eyes. “I’m not gonna hit you. That’s insane.”

“Well, then, sic Sammy on me. He’ll get the job done.”

Chase laughed, imagining it. Despite Auston’s bigger size, Sammy was scrappy as fuck—he wouldn’t be surprised if he somehow got the better of Auston in a fight. “Fine.”

They curled up together, Chase leaning against Auston’s side and the Alpha rubbing up and down his flank. “How did you get my hoodie, anyway?”

“Oh…I just kind of grabbed it from your couch? Sorry. I should have asked permission. Or, you know, not worn it in public.”

“It’s fine. Any reason in particular you grabbed it, though?”

Chase shrugged. “I dunno. I just…wanted to wear it. I liked that it was yours.”

Auston’s fingers sank into his hair, pulling lightly, a reward. Chase felt the skin on the nape of his neck prickle, fingers tingling.

His body came alive every time Auston touched it, a flower seeking sunlight.

“Wish I’d seen it,” Auston murmured. Chase grinned, slotting that away as something that would get the Alpha going.

Chase shuffled closer. Silence blanketed them for a little while before something bubbled up in him, festering since his conversation with Sammy. “So, um…are we going out officially? Like…exclusively?”

Auston stiffened, but when he turned to watch Chase, his expression hadn’t dropped into something annoyed. “Is that something you want?”

“I asked you first,” Chase huffed.

Auston snorted. “It’s definitely something I’d like. I just want you to be sure—”

“I’m sure,” Chase blurted, and then, slower, “I’m sure, Daddy.”

Auston tilted Chase’s face up and caught his lips in a slow kiss that went from sweet to dirty in an instant, tongues brushing together, Chase opening up eagerly.

Chase was dizzy when they parted, heart pulsing everywhere. He licked his lips, feeling bold. “So I wouldn’t be able to flirt with other Alphas.”

Auston raised his eyebrows. “Do youwantto flirt with other Alphas?”

“No, but…if I did. That would be disrespectful, wouldn’t it?”

Auston’s eyes narrowed as he hummed thoughtfully. “I guess I’d have to take you in hand if that happened, wouldn’t I? Teach you how to behave?”

Chase’s breath came in short, making his chest tight in the best way. He squirmed at the thought of it, Auston—

Chase yelped as Auston suddenly pushed them to the middle of the couch and pulled Chase down so he was lying sideways on his lap.

“Daddy!” Chase protested loudly, kicking out, but he stilled as Auston grabbed his ass roughly.

“You still thinking about those other Alphas?”

A shiver of the sweetest version of fear trembled up Chase’s spine. “No,” he replied meekly.

“No? You seemed real eager to flirt with them a second ago.”

“No, Daddy. I was just asking.”
