At the end of the evening, I watch the two boys talking, so clearly smitten it’s obvious to everybody around them. I wonder how they can be so completely oblivious.

“I give Joshua and Hugo until the end of the year until they’re a couple,” I tell Sebastián, leaning against him on my couch.
“I’d say they’ll be together by the start of December.”
“That’s like two weeks away.”
“I know. But after what happened with Joshua’s dad…it was good that Hugo was there for him.”
“Yeah. And they’re cute together.”
“I doubt that’ll play a part.”
“Still.” I turn my head to look back and stick my tongue out at him. Sebastián smiles, pushing his face against me and kissing me on my temple. I laugh, batting him away. “We should make a bet.”
“Absolutely not.”
“Why not?”
“Basic ethics.”
“Urgh, ethics. That’s the first thing that’ll go when I’m queen.”
Sebastián snorts.
“As well as plain Pop-Tarts. Just. No.”
“I like those.”
“Urgh, you would.”
“Add some vanilla ice cream in there…”
I laugh. “Strawberry cheesecake, all the way.”
“No.”
“Mix it with some Rocky Road…”
“Gross.”
“Somedulce de leche…”
“Dulce de lecheand vanilla go together way better.”
“Fine. You can be vanilla, I can bedulce de leche.”
“Deal.”
“You can be Crocs and I’ll be a killer pair of heels.”
“That’s a jump in logic.”
“You can be a plain bagel and I’ll be a golden doughnut.”
“Golden doughnut?”
