Jonah smiled, soft and sweet and almost shy. “It was amazing. So hot. Holy fuck.” Jonah let out a shaky breath. “I need like ten minutes before I can go again.”
Spencer laughed and held Jonah tighter. “I’ll need like twenty.”
“I’m sorry,” Jonah said. “I shouldn’t have gone on that date.”
“You didn’t, though. You showed up, but you left. And you came here. I don’t care about that. Not anymore. But if you really need to hear it, I accept your apology. And I’m sorry that I didn’t speak up sooner and save us both the heartache.”
Jonah let out a sigh, but the residual tension in him fell away and he went soft and pliant in Spencer’s arms. “I love you. I feel like a teenager because I want to say it over and over again until you’re sick of hearing it.”
“I’ll never get sick of hearing that.”
“Are you sure? I can be pretty annoying.”
“Says who?”
“Colby. Taylor.”
Spencer scoffed. “Siblings don’t count. Boyfriends do, and this one says he loves you too. And you can tell him that you love him as often as you want. I love hearing you say it.”
Jonah tilted his head back and looked at Spencer. “Boyfriend?”
“Well, it seems logical. I love you, you love me. We do boyfriendy things together. Except…” Spencer frowned, and when Jonah’s expression matched his, he made himself smile and kiss Jonah’s worry away.
“Except what?”
“Except I’ve never taken you on a proper date yet. We kiss and have sex…”
“Amazing sex,” Jonah countered.
“Amazing sex,” Spencer agreed. “But I want to take you on a date. Something nice. Something special.”
“Anything with you is special.”
“How did I get so lucky?” Spencer asked, barely resisting the urge to start kissing Jonah again.
“I could ask myself the same thing.”
This time, Spencer didn’t resist. Jonah’s mouth was soft and warm, and they traded lazy kisses until Spencer was dizzy with breathlessness.
“So, what now?” Jonah asked a few minutes later, still tucked close, happily wrapped up in Spencer’s arms. He drew hearts on Spencer’s skin with the tip of his finger.
“Now, we shower, and I cook dinner for you, and I convince you to sleep over.”
Jonah snorted. “Like it’s hard to convince me to stay at a place when I never want to leave.”
One day soon, Spencer would probably talk to Jonah about their living arrangements, but not yet. He couldn’t imagine a life now that didn’t have Jonah, though. The unused bedroom would make a good office for Jonah, and Spencer would still have his workshop. His yard was larger than Jonah’s, but he didn’t want to assume that Jonah would want to move in with him so soon. Or that if he did want to live together, that he’d want to live here.
But he would talk about it with him. Soon. He wouldn’t make the same mistake he did about his feelings. He was done keeping anything from Jonah.
“I love you.” Spencer kissed Jonah again. Because he wanted to. Because he could. Because he loved Jonah and the way he loved Spencer right back just as fierce.
CHAPTER 27
JONAH
Jonah wasn’t nervous. Not really. Excited. Elated, maybe. Not nervous. His clammy hands told a different story, however, and he wiped them on his pants.
Spencer glanced over at him and took his hand like it was normal. Like holding hands in public was a thing they always did.
