“You really are a good person, Rach. And I trust you.”
“I’m glad,” said Rachel. “That’s all I want for us.”
That evening, they ate dinner by candlelight at the Italian restaurant. They ate homemade farfalle pasta with the sauce that apparently Tay had been making that morning. And then Penelope extolled the virtues of Guilia’s ice cream so that they both tried a variety of different flavors.
Tay came out to speak to them before the end of their meal. “Everything good?”
“Delicious,” replied Rachel, and then noticed Tay giving Penelope a significant look.
“Everything’s all good,” said Penelope, and she reached out to hold Rachel’s hand, squeezing her fingers.
Tay glanced down to look at their hands, and then back up again. “Excellent,” they said. “Told you it would be.”
Rachel raised an eyebrow as they headed back to the kitchen and Penelope shrugged. “I spoke to them about… everything. They give good advice.”
“Well, I can’t exactly complain,” said Rachel, “considering I called Elisabeth to ask her for some advice.”
Penny choked on her water. “You called Elisabeth? To ask for advice on relationships?”
“She seems very happy with Lyra.”
“Yes, and I can almost guarantee that’s because Lyra is a very direct kind of person. Elisabeth didn’t even know she was a pleasure Domme before Lyra.”
Rachel scoffed, and then saw that Penelope was dead serious. “Wait, what?”
“I know! Ridiculous, right?”
They laughed then. “Well, if our messy friends can work shit out, then we definitely can.”
CHAPTER 35
Penelope
Going back up to their room that evening, they didn’t even try to have sex. It wasn’t that they didn’t want to—or at least that Penelope didn’t want to, she couldn’t speak for Rachel—but they’d gone through so much. Talked and talked and talked.
Penny had worked through so much trauma that day, that she simply didn’t have it in her to have Rachel in her.
Instead, the two of them wandered out onto the balcony. The night air was cool and crisp, and the sky was studded with stars as far as the eye could see.
“It’s beautiful,” whispered Penny.
“Mmhmm,” agreed Rachel, wrapping her arms around Penelope and pulling her in close. They stood like that for some time, until Rachel suddenly said, “How would you like to sleep outside tonight?”
“In a tent?” Penelope’s disgust must have shown on her face because Rachel burst out laughing.
“No no, not in a tent. Out here, on the balcony.”
Penny looked around. The wrought-iron balcony was spacious and would probably have space for a double blow-up bed—but where would they get one?!
“I’ll call down,” said Rachel. “You stay here.” She got Penelope a chair, wrapped a blanket around her and disappeared back into the suite.
Penny let herself sink back in the chair and snuggle into the blanket deeper. It was peaceful out here at night. You’d expect to hear more music or laughter, especially after the pool party the day before, but today it was just quiet.
Heaven.
Thick wooded areas surrounded the main building, and this was the case too, by the balconies. Looking out, all she could see were trees, and then further in the distance, mountains.
There wasn’t much like this back home. London was vibrant and bustling, but even in the quieter corners and beautiful parks, there was nothing quite like this.
