SOPHIE’S EPILOGUE
Five months later
Today we move into our new studio. We’ve been needing a much bigger place. Business has skyrocketed, all thanks to Mila’s uncle, who handed over so many of his clients and who recommended us to celebrities and models. We hardly do family photographs now, and we’ve hired two more photographers. Since Mila gave birth to little Luca on Thanksgiving, she’s been working part-time; she and Dom have been busy with two kids, two restaurants, and the studio. Liam and I have been helping them out with the kids, giving them a break, and I just love how Liam looks holding a newborn and playing with Dante. I never thought the sight of Liam holding a baby would turn me on, but it does. The way he coos at baby Luca makes my ovaries want to explode.
“Baby, is that all the boxes?” Liam asks, walking in dressed in casual clothing. I miss him in his sexy uniform.
“Yes, that’s it for today. We can leave the equipment in the other room. I have a photoshoot in an hour.”
“Tomorrow is New Year’s Eve. You should just cancel and reschedule after the New Year.”
I lean in and kiss his stubbled jaw. “I would, but I rescheduled once already; I felt bad, so I told him we could just do it today and get it over with. It shouldn’t take long, then we can go over to your mom’s for dinner.”
“Him?”
Apparently, that’s all he picked up on.
“Yes, it’s ahim. I have the equipment ready—and the oils,” I say, trying to hide my smile, but it slips. His jaw clenches, jealousy visible. I add, “He’s an underwear model. We have a contract with them… it’s a new agency.”
He looks like an angry Greek god. “You’d better not rub oil all over his body, Sophie.” His arms wrap around my waist. I can feel the possessiveness of his hold and the jealousy dripping from each word.
“Of course not, silly. I’m not going to rub itallover. Maybe just his chest,” I joke.
He tilts his head back, peering at the ceiling. “Lord, help me.”
Taking a bite of his neck, I say, “Mi bebé jealous.”
His body shakes in laughter, and he spanks my butt. “Yes, very, and you know how to do it so well.”
“I’m sorry. You know I’d never do that.”
“I know, even though you’ve done it before.” Of course, he’ll never forget that.
“We were not an item, remember?”
“Still,” he says, irritated, remembering the swimsuit models. “You’re going to get it tonight for messing with me.”
I grin. “Promise?”
He shakes his head, laughing. “Oh, I promise, bella.” He kisses my lips. “Tomorrow, I’m taking you out for New Year’s Eve.”
“We’re not going to your mom’s? I thought since Rosa moved back you’d want to go,” I ask.
His thumb brushes my lips. “Rosa moved into her new apartment. Mom’s going over to her place to ring in the New Year. I want to be alone withmy girl.”
I love how sweet he is.
The day he took me to the lake, and we had a picnic was one of the most special things anyone has ever done for me—it meant more than words can say. He continues to surprise me every day, showing me how much he loves me. I moved into his place that week and gave up my lease. I’ve never been happier than I am with Liam. He loves my sassiness, snarky attitude, and lame jokes. And I love everything about my detective, from his possessiveness to his handsome and sexy body to his protective side. I’m so proud of him. He’s come along way. We both have.
He’s incredibly precious to me.
My parents came down to meet Liam for Thanksgiving. Oh, did they fall in love with him. They clicked with him, just like I thought they would. My mom kept calling him a hunk and telling him stories of my childhood. He laughed, getting a kick out of my embarrassment. My dad fell in love with him, too. They talked about their love for muscle cars and even decided to rebuild a car together. My dad patted me on the back and whispered, “He’s a keeper.” I think my dad liked him for himself. I don’t mind. I’d gladly share Liam with my dad. He deserves to have a father in his life. I saw the warmth in his eyes, how he longed for that.
“I love you,” I murmur.
“I love you more.” He grinds his erection on my belly.
“Fuck, man, we’ve been waiting for you outside. You said you’d be right back. We’re freezing our asses off,” Santiago bites out. He seems to be in one of his moods.
