The events of the past few weeks have been like a million needles piercing my chest—Dominic's treachery, the way he mistreated me, and seeing him again. Last night I could feel jealousy radiating off him; he clouds my thoughts.

The sentimental gift he gifted me meant so much. My body heated at his sight, the sensation of butterflies fluttering in my stomach. What right do I have to feel this way when years have passed, and he’s engaged? I’ve told myself I need to move on. I turn my eyes to the baby blues glaring at me.

“I do love him, Brian, but several years have passed, and he’s engaged now. We no longer know each other. We’ve both moved on, but he’s my son’s father, my son, so I’ll always have feelings.” My heart deflates with a pang in my chest.

“He clearly still harbors feelings for you,” he retorts, bitterly. Shrugging.

“He’s engaged,” I repeat, mustering a smile.

His stare lingers on my chest. My black v-neck shirt reveals a significant amount of cleavage.

“Let’s pick up where we left off, before we were rudely interrupted.”

His soft lips claim mine in an unexpected embrace. His hands hike up my skirt, and his long, gentle fingers run along my skin, teasing me with each stroke. “Pretty girl, you’re all I could think about last night—how you felt, how you tasted. I need to see all of you. Our first time should have been somewhere else, somewhere special. You certainly deserve that much.”

The sound of my own moans grow louder in our kiss as my arousal intensifies. He tears off my shirt and unclasps my bra, and his gaze settles on the tattoo inscribed on my chest under my breasts. I open my mouth to explain, but he silences me with a kiss.

“Pretty girl, you don’t need to explain,” he mummer on my lips.

“Goddamn, you’re sexy, baby.”

That’s what I love about Brian, he’s easy and understanding. He hungrily pulls each nipple into his warm, inviting mouth. His strong arms lift me effortlessly, placing me on his lap.

My breath comes in short gasps as I blurt out my desire, “I want to be in your bed!”

He scoops me up, and I feel the heated press of his body against mine as he carries me to his bed. He slides my skirt off and rolls off his shorts and briefs. His sun-kissed skin glows in the dim light, and I see a flicker of desire in his eyes. I watch as he strokes himself.

Fuck that's hot.

I’m terrified to fall for any man. I’ve been hurt by Dominic and left by my parents. Brian’s warmth engulfs me and makes me feel safe. For right now, sex is just sex. I need to feel his touch, his need for me.

“Brian, I need you,” I murmur before he groans in response.

“Pretty girl, I need you. I’ve never needed another woman like I need you.” He claims my mouth with savage kisses. He reaches for his wallet, pulling out a condom. His fingers stroke in-between my legs. “Your wet for me, pretty girl?” A hum of satisfaction leaves his lips.

Brian’s muscular arms hold my thighs apart as he pushes deep inside me, sending a wave of pleasure through my body with each thrust. His strong, steady breaths fill my mouth and the tension between us grows. I open my eyes and see the look of desire in Brian's eyes, and I know he’s falling for me. The thought scares me. I’m not sure I can return those feelings. I lift my hips up, grinding deeper into each thrust.

“Fuck, pretty girl, are you close?” he, rasps.

“Yes,” I say, as I shudder in his arms. I can feel him trembling inside of me, filling me in.

After laying together for a few minutes, I pick my clothes up from the ground, Brian fastens my bra. I smooth my skirt out over my hips. I feel something fall from my pocket, and Brian kneels to get it.

He pulls out my silver locket and peers into it at the picture of Dominic and me inside. His blue eyes harden as he takes a harsh breath. “How is this going to work, Mila, if you still have lingering feelings for your son’s father? I know these are new emotions you just discovered, since you didn’t know he’s alive. Mila, how do I fit into all this?” Brian waves his hands in the air. Worry lines crease his forehead.

“He’s engaged, Brian,” I bite. Irritated.

“Pretty girl, fuck, I like you so much…”

“But?” I snap.

“Pretty girl, I think we should put things on hold between us. Until you two sort it out. I don’t want to be second. You have a son with him. He will always be in your life.”

I pinch the bridge of my nose. “Brian. Yes, you’re right. We do need to discuss certain things when it comes to Dante, but as for Dominic and me, it’s over.” I wrap my arms around his neck. I kiss the corner of his soft lips.

“Mila, he might be engaged, but he was furious, for fuck’s sake. He tore the door open and shoved me off you. Beautiful, we can’t start a relationship if you have feelings for him. If he’s going to be coming around ripping you away from me. I’m sorry, Mila, I don’t need the drama.” Brian retreats. He brushes his lips on my knuckles.

Fuming, I step away from him. “We just had sex, then you dump me? Brian, that’s a dick move.” Disappointment knifes through me.
