Some days I’d finish filming early enough to eat dinner with them. Afterward, we’d all pile onto the couch to watch a movie Addy picked out.

While I see Savannah every day, it’s been a struggle getting time alone with her to worship her body. We only fucked a handful of times over the past month, and they were all quick and dirty. My call times have been all over the place. I’d return home too exhausted to give her what she deserves.

Having her near and not being able tohaveher was a special kind of torture. I’d steal kisses any chance I could, mostly in the mornings when Adeline was watching cartoons in her room.

“What are you thinking about?”

I glance up at Savannah’s question and a knowing smile spreads across her beautiful face.

We’re sitting at the island, a script I’m paying no attention to is in my hand. Savannah is reading one of her romance books. It must be getting to a good part because she’s been fidgeting in her seat for the past five minutes. If I didn’t have to leave soon for set, I’d help relieve her of that built-up tension.

“I’m thinking about how it’s been too long since I’ve properly been inside you and how I want to lock us in my bedroom and fuck you until we’re both dead to the world.”

“That sounds intense. A bit dramatic.”

“Am I not an actor? I live for dramatics.”

She shakes her head and closes her book, setting it on the countertop. Addy is in her room, picking out her outfit to wear today. It’s the end of June. This is her last week in preschool before the break for summer.

Then she’ll be in kindergarten.

She’s growing up too fast. I should be home spending more time with her instead of being on set for twelve to sixteen hours a day.

“Whoa, what happened there? Your face went from turned on to sad pretty fast,” Savannah says, crossing her arms and furrowing her brows.

I sigh because nothing gets past this woman. We’ve been around each other enough to learn facial expressions. Like how she chews on her bottom lip when she’s nervous, or thinking about something sexual, or thinking in general. How she blushes so easily when embarrassed or turned on. How her eyes open wide, like a doe, and she blinks rapidly when she’s lying. She’s a horrible liar.

I wonder what my tells are.

“This is Adeline’s last week in preschool. She’ll be in kindergarten next year. Before I know it, she’ll be graduating from high school.” I stand to pack up the script in my bag.

Savannah walks to me. I wrap my arms around her and rest my cheek on her head.

“You’ve done such a great job raising her. She’s going to need you for the rest of her life. There will be times she hates you, but I guarantee she’ll never forget the love you gave her.”

I inhale her sweet scent and squeeze her hard. I am never letting this woman go.

I lean back and meet her gaze. “Will you go on a date with me?”

“Really?” she asks, her face lighting up at the idea.

“I have a short filming day on Friday. I want to spend that night eating junk food and watching movies with Addy to celebrate her last day of school. Then Saturday, I’m off, and you’re all mine. I’ll have to find someone to watch Adeline, though. Lana goes back to L.A. tomorrow, but I’m hoping Eloise and Kelly will be around.”

They just bought a loft in Brooklyn.

Savannah peels herself out of my arms and returns to sit on the stool. “But what about the paparazzi?”

“What about them?”

“They’ll... take our pictures and write stuff. They’ll assume stuff.”

“Then let’s not let them assume. I’ll have my team release a statement to confirm we’re in a relationship. They’ll ‘leak’ a sighting, sending the paparazzi to where we’ll be on our date. We’ll hold hands, flirt, and kiss in public. And I’ll handle all the questions.”

“That seems... terrifying.”

“It will be at first, but you’ll get used to it. I just... really want to experience the city with you. And Adeline. She had such a fun time out with Mylan and Lana. I want to take you both to Broadway shows or maybe to a baseball game at Yankee Stadium.”

“Ooo! Yes, please! I’ve never been to a professional baseball game.”
