She groans. Her hair is a mess, standing every which way around her head. I lean in to kiss her, but she slaps her palm over my mouth again. This time, I lick it, and she squeals before peeling it away.
“Asshole,” she grumbles. Her eyes fall to my chest, and she grimaces. “I drooled on you?”
I glance down at the wet spot on my white shirt and smirk. “It appears so.”
“I didn’t mean to... cuddle with you.”
“I’m glad you did.”
Her phone’s alarm blares, and she twists her body to snatch it off the bedside table.
“Fuck. I need to make breakfast and get dressed to take Addy to school.”
She attempts to get out of bed but gets caught in the sheets. I lay back, an arm behind my head, and watch the frantic woman. She’s too adorable. When she finally rights herself, she adjusts her pajamas and blows a piece of hair out of her face.
“It’s only seven. You have time,” I offer.
“Right. Okay.”
We stare at each other for the longest time.
“You’re freaking out about this, aren’t you?”
She fidgets on her feet and opens her mouth, then clamps it shut. “Maybe we shouldn’t have done that.”
“Tell me why. Voice your concerns, Savannah.”
“Last night we were kissing. Today your finger was in my ass.”
I cover my mouth to hide my smile. She’s being serious, but all I can think about is how wonderful she looked coming on my fingers.
“Are we going too fast? Are we going too far over the boundary line?”
“Right. The boundary line. We could readjust it.” I quirk my eyebrow, giving her the chance to tell me what she wants.
I will do anything she wants.
“I… I don’t know. Maybe. Let me think about it.”
We stare at each other some more. As if both of us are waiting for the other to make another move.
“Daaaaad, Savvy, I’m hungry!” Adeline calls from her room once again.
Savannah sighs and breaks eye contact with me. Before she walks past me out the door, I stand and grab her wrist.
“And Savannah?” I pull her to me and brush my lips against hers. “I don’t give a fuck about morning breath.”
I slant my mouth over hers, and she melts into me. The kiss is quick, not wanting to break her ‘no kissing because of morning breath’ rule. I don’t even slide my tongue in like I want to.
Savannahdisappearstoherroom to shower and change, so I get Addy dressed, then we head to the kitchen so I can cook breakfast.
I pause at the fridge.
Adeline painted us? Me, her, and Savannah, and we’re all holding hands.
“Poppy, I love this.”
“Thanks Dad! Savvy hung it up on the fridge last night,” she says. She’s sitting on a stool at the island’s counter, swinging her legs while playing an educational game on her tablet.
