I press a kiss on Savannah’s lips. “Is she supposed to be this sassy at five years old?”
“I’m five and a half!”
Shaking my head, I take Savannah’s hand and lead my family out of the penthouse and down to the car.
My family.
It’s been a long time since I could call more than one person my family. And I finally feel at home again.
Chapter 25 – Savannah
Thepartyissmall, taking place in the museum’s gardens. Fairy lights hang around the area with decorated tables spread throughout. We sit at a table with Eloise, Kelly, Lana, Mylan, Bruno, and Ginger (who left their new baby with Bruno’s parents at the hotel.)
Lana told me Bruno moved his parents stateside from Germany after a loan shark kept trying to go after them for money, even though they already paid off their loan. Apparently, the asshole found out about Bruno’s successful business and tried to scam more money out of them. They’ve been dealing with the man for nearly six years. Bruno had to bail them out a few times. He got tired of it and finally convinced his parents to move to L.A. It worked out perfectly since Karl and Sofia Stein wanted to be close to their grandbaby.
Eloise and Kelly whisper to each other, smiling and laughing and in love. They’ve been busy with their flourishing careers, booking jobs not only in L.A. and New York, but in Europe as well. They’re flying out in a couple days to spend three weeks overseas working. Eloise is shooting a spread for Italian Vogue. She’s also working Paris Fashion Week. Kelly will DJ at clubs in Paris and Milan or wherever else Eloise lands a gig.
Jensen and Rebecca sit at a separate table with both of their parents, who all flew in to attend the premiere. People I don’t know sit at the four other tables. Reynold says they’re people Jensen and Rebecca have worked with over the years.
Once everyone is settled, Jensen nods to the string quartet and they gradually stop playing.
“Thank you, everyone, for being here tonight,” Jensen begins, standing next to Rebecca. She’s gorgeous in her purple gown with a full, poofy skirt that has gold-laced trim, and a matching purple gemmed crown. Apart from the skirt, it’s the same dress from the photoshoot with Jensen and Rey a year ago. Rey is also wearing the same outfit. I found the pictures online when I finally Googled him. He was a knight on a horse with a lance and shield. He looked sexy as fuck. When I told him just how sexy he was in that outfit, he wore it one night and we did a bit of role playing.
Jensen wears the same outfit from the shoot as well, a black tunic with purple trim, puffy sleeves, black pants.
“I am so honored that you all took time out of your lives to attend tonight’s premiere. This documentary was personal. I got to follow the love of my life around the country, showcasing her passion. I got to tell her story through her eyes. I’m the luckiest man in the world.”
The couple smile at each other lovingly and instead of the pang of jealousy I’d normally feel seeing a couple in love, my stomach flutters. Reynold takes my hand, weaving his fingers with mine.
“But we’re not just celebrating the premiere tonight. We have some news to share,” Rebecca adds, offering Jensen a mischievous smile. She flattens the massive skirt over her stomach, revealing a baby bump. “We’re pregnant. Six months along. And we’re also getting married. Tonight. Right now.”
“Surprise!” they say together, arms spread open.
Gasps chorus through the small crowd. Lana covers her mouth, her eyes watering. Ginger’s mouth hangs open. Mylan scowls at his best friend, Reynold shakes his head, and Bruno is chuckling with his meaty arms over his wide chest.
“Did you know?” I ask Reynold.
“I knew they were engaged. They never publicly announced it though. The pregnancy, however, I had no fucking idea,” he says quietly next to my ear. Addy sits on my right and didn’t hear him, otherwise she might have taxed him for cursing.
Now that I think about it, Rebecca’s outfit for the premiere tonight also had a flowing skirt that hid her stomach.
Jensen keeps talking. “This ceremony will be quick and then we’ll eat, drink—nonalcoholic drinks for Mylan and Rebecca—and party.”
Mylan and Rebecca both flip the bird to Jensen before he takes his place at the front of next to his bride. Two ground lights turn on to illuminate the couple. An older man with stark white hair wearing a simple suit walks out to officiate the ceremony.
“They say that love at first sight exists,” Rebecca begins. “However, this was not the case for us.”
The crowd laughs.
“It might have been hate at first sight,” she continues, “but damn you for finding a way into my heart like a parasite and never leaving.”
“Your parasite,” Jensen adds.
“I promise to always get on your nerves and fight whenever possible. Because it’s how our relationship started out. It’s what brought us together. And it’s what will keep us strong from now until forever. I love you, Ani.”
I giggle at her Star Wars themed nickname for Jensen. I love the movies and always enjoy meeting a fellow nerd.
“My Ami,” Jensen says. “You’re as beautiful as the first day I set eyes on you. But it’s your soul that shines. You showed me you cared despite how cruel I was to you. You never let my darkness push you away, and I can never thank you enough for seeing the good within me. I can’t wait for those annoying moments and the fights because it means the passion is still there. We fight for what we love, and I hope the day we lose that fight never comes. I love you.”
