I lift my head to see she’s chewing on her lip as she does when she’s nervous… or turned on.
“I really need this job.”
“Okay?”
“And what if… I don’t know. What if it doesn’t work out, and it gets weird, then I’ll be forced to quit?”
I stand up straight and take her hands in mine.
“Tell me what will make you feel better about this decision, and I’ll do it. I’ll do whatever you want Savannah Beth Monroe.”
She licks her lips and blushes. Did my saying her full name turn her to mush like when she says mine? She doesn’t call me out on using her middle name, which she never told me. I got it off the background check.
“I, um… do you think we could have…” She sighs. “Sorry, this is weird…”
Oh. Now I understand what she wants.
“Would you like me to ask my lawyers to draw up a contract?”
She nods.
“Done. When we start dating—”
“You want to take me out on a date?”
“I want to take you out on a million dates. I want to fuck you. I want whatever you give me. And if we were to end things and you feel you no longer want to be a part of mine and Addy’s life, then I will pay you a year’s salary.”
“A year? Reynold, no, that’s too much.”
“It’s not and you will accept it.”
“So overbearing.”
I smirk and run a finger over her jaw. She flutters her eyes.
“Oh Savannah, you have no idea how domineering I can be. Is that what you want? Would you like me to tell you what to do?”
She peers at me with hooded eyes.
“Remember the types of books I told you I like to read?”
“Of course.”
“I want you to do all the things I listed.”
Chapter 12 – Savannah
Reynoldcamehomefromset today looking like death, coughing, and running a fever. He couldn’t make it through his scenes without hacking up a lung, so the director sent him home.
He has a cold.
I should have known something was wrong with him last night when he kept clearing his throat and sniffling. I figured it was just allergies.
He insisted he was fine and tried to clean up the living room after Addy and I built a fort, but I dragged his ass to the bathroom. I shoved cold medicine down his throat, then tucked him into bed.
He fell asleep right away.
