“No, sorry.” A small smile played at the corner of his lips, but his eyes were serious.

She studied him. He appeared nervous. He kept fidgeting. First rubbing his forehead, then putting his hands in his pockets, only to pull them out seconds later.

“Are you okay? Is anything wrong?”

“No. It’s only, well, I was going to wait until after dinner.” Jacob caught her eye and smiled. “This is better.” He stood, rubbed his palms on the front of his pants, then lowered to one knee.

“Oh my,” she whispered over her now racing heart.

He looked at her from bended knee, devotion in his eyes. Her heart leaped, and joy danced through her soul, tears filling her eyes.

Shoot. I am going to cry.

“Greta, you are my lover and best friend. Before you, I didn’t believe in soulmates or fairy tale love. Now I do.” Jacob dipped a hand into his shirt pocket.

Between his thumb and pointer finger was the loveliest ring. The beauty of it stole her breath. An exquisite, flawless diamond sat in an octagon setting. The sides of the ring were inscribed with intricate and beautiful etchings.

“I love you. Will you be my Happily Ever After? Will you marry me?” Jacob asked.

Her gaze flickered from his face to the gorgeous ring. Happiness ran through every inch of her body, rendering her speechless.

Her Prince Charming had arrived on a motorcycle, covered in tattoos. Jacob was everything she wanted and needed. He was her one true love.

He cleared his throat, breaking her reverie.

Greta catapulted herself from the swing and into his arms, almost knocking him over. “Yes, Jacob, I will marry you.”
