I am shocked not just by the looks of him but the sheer brooding power emanating from his muscular frame. He is tall. Well over Fire’s six-foot frame by at least two inches. His arms are twice the size of my thighs. That’s saying something because no matter how much I run or work out, I always have an ass and thick thighs. His broad chest tapers into a slim waist and powerful thighs encased in jeans that had to be made for him. To top off his ensemble, he’s wearing a pair of shit kickers and a leather cut. I finally make my way up to his face, and the smirk on his lips tells me he knows I was checking him out. It makes me want to slap that beautiful, beard-covered face.
“I could say the same for you, my boy,” Fire says, puffing out his chest.
“I’m no boy, and I’m damn sure not your boy,” the stranger retorts, his eyes going hard.
“No disrespect meant,” Fire instantly replies, his hands raised in supplication.
I’m a little taken aback. In the four years I have known Fire, he has never, not once, said anything like that to anyone. I look back up to the god in front of us, making eye contact for the first time, and I suck in a sharp breath. His eyes are not like anything I have ever seen; they are so light blue; they appear almost translucent. My shock causes Fire’s attention to turn to me.
“Vixen, why don’t you go get me and these gentlemen some beers while we go talk,” Fire demands, patting me on the ass.
“Anything for you, Fire,” I state as sweetly as possible.
I walk straight to the bar and find Logan, or Vice, as all the brothers call her, behind the bar with another black eye. I go to ask what happened, and she just shakes her head at me. I hate that I got us into this mess. But now that there is another life on the line, I will be damn sure to get us the hell out of here.
“Hey, Vice, babe, I need a round of beers for Fire, Ice, and the new guys,” I announce when she walks up to me.
“Sure, thing, Vixen. Any shots to go with that?” she asks, knowing that Fire and Ice never have just beer.
“Put a bottle and glasses on the tray. We don’t want them to get upset,” I quickly state, looking at her pointedly.
She gives me a subtle nod before answering, “You got that shit right. Coming right up.”
I turn and lean on the bar, thinking about how we got here. I got lucky that Fire is a possessive asshole. Not that he keeps it in his pants just for me, but I’m not allowed to make eye contact with anyone except him most days. Logan didn’t get so lucky. Ice doesn’t give a damn about her and shares her with others just because he can. The fact that she still talks to me at this point is a damn miracle.
I start planning a way out, getting so lost in my head that I don’t acknowledge the tray Vice puts on the bar until she nudges my arm.
“Vix, you better go before Fire thinks you are chatting up someone,” Vice urgently states, bringing me out of my memories.
“You go it, babe. Later you and me?” I ask her, needing to tell her about the baby and my plan to find a way out. She gives me a wink and turns, going to the other end of the bar where the other newcomers sit. I pick up the tray and expertly weave through the crowd, avoiding hands as I take the drinks to the guys.
When I arrive, I place the tray on the table and turn to leave when I’m pulled down onto Fire’s lap. I know then that something big is going on because I’m never allowed to stay for meetings of any kind. I look over at the god across the table, and the glare he is giving Fire turns my blood to ice.
“You want to tell me why we had to drive all the way up here for a face-to-face meeting?” the stranger growls out. His voice does something inside of me, but I hold back the urge to squirm, knowing that Fire will give me hell if he attributes my movement to the stranger.
“You see, we have somewhat of a problem we were hoping you could help us out with,” Fire says, running his nose down my neck, and it takes everything in me to hold back my dinner. I close my eyes and swallow hard.
I hear a growl from across the table, bringing my eyes back to the man sitting there. I’m confused by the feelings that he causes in me. One being safety and security. The other, pure unadulterated lust. That feeling could get me killed, so I tamp it down and focus on what is being said around me.

Iwatch as the woman on Fire’s lap shudders, and I’m not sure if it is from desire or disgust. I can’t stop the growl that leaves my throat at the thought of it being desire. Something about her tells me she is meant to be mine. I am no homewrecker though, so I have to find out if she is his or one of many. I watch as he whispers something in her ear, causing her to lean forward and pour a round of shots.
“Why should we help you, Fire?” I take the shot glass, making sure to make eye contact, and drag my fingers across hers.
“Because if the problem persists, then it could affect your business as well,” Fire declares smugly like he knows something we don’t.
The thing is, my dad, the prez, already sat down over Fire’s little problem, and we have an understanding that as long as they don’t screw with us, we’ll stay out of it. I’m in this shit hole to let Fire know the same thing. This club is everything that people think of when they hear the words ‘motorcycle club.’ Full of no-good drug addicts, drunks, and punks who need a good ass-kicking. I look around and see several of the club girls sporting bruises and track marks. I hope to talk to Dad about either taking over this club or taking it out altogether.
“See, here’s the thing... We know all about your problem. You and yours are using more of the product than you’re selling. Also, you borrowed money from some guys that are ready to collect. That sounds like a you problem, not a we problem.” I lean back, crossing my arms over my chest.
The look of shock on Fire’s face is comical. He looks over at Ice, who looks concerned as he glances around to see who may have heard me. Oh, this is too fucking easy. I look at Duck and see an evil grin on his face. Fire starts looking a little unsettled.
“How about this? I won’t let my prez know about the fuck fest you have going on here in your so-called club, and you make this trip worth my while,” I say with a smirk.
“Alright, what do you want? We have some of the purest powder you can find. Any one of our club girls would be happy to give you and your boys a good time. You name it. It’s yours.” Fire doesn’t hesitate.
