“My body can’t get enough of those goddamned growly commands.” He made the statement as though his head wasn’t sure of the same.

I took Jon’s hand and pressed it between my thighs to keep him from getting lost in confusing thoughts.

One of Jon’s eyebrows rose as he slid his fingers through the fresh slickness seeping from my pussy. “Is that cream all for me or because of him?” he asked, no trace of anything but lust in his eyes.

“Yes.”

Jon grinned as though pleased with my response, kissed the word off my lips, and lifted me into his arms.

We hadn’t talked everything through, but thoughts of further discussion swept from my mind as he claimed my mouth, filling my mind and body with his love.

Chapter 27

Jonathan

I couldn’t stop thinking about what had happened. And how much more I wanted to explore. Being dominated by Elijah, allowing him control, had snicked all kinds of feel-goods in my brain into place, laying out a path that I wanted to follow but had no fucking clue where it might lead.

The taste of his cum still lingered in my mouth long after I’d made love to my wife in the shower and we dressed to finish out the day.

Dakota and I sat to eat a late lunch, but Elijah’s presence remained in my mind although he hadn’t joined us.

“Do you think he’s all right?” Dakota asked, her gaze flitting up the stairs to the upper floor where I didn’t get a sense he lingered.

I popped the last bite of my turkey sandwich into my mouth and chewed, wondering. He hadn’t seemed to regret what we’d done. I shrugged. “Maybe he just needs some time. Seemed fine to me though.”

Dakota sighed and stood, gathering our plates. She’d made him a sandwich as well, and it sat untouched in front of his empty seat. “Guess I’ll wrap this up for him.”

“Are you okay, baby?” I asked, sitting back in my chair, my focus on her downturned lips.

“Yeah.” She tried for a smile. “I just...” Blowing out a breath, she fully faced me. “We need to talk this through completely, Jon. I-I need to know what this is.” She swept her hand around his house, her troubled eyes welling.

“Shit.” I hopped up and pulled her against my chest. “If it’s too much, we can light out of here right now. Walk away and put whatever this is behind us. Just say the word, Dakota, and I’ll do whatever you want.”

“Your job?—”

“Fuck the damn job if staying here is going to make you cry.”

Dakota clung to me, nuzzling her face against my chest.

I kissed the top of her head, soothing my hands down her back atop Elijah’s shirt.

“We’re going to stay,” she said matter-of-factly, “but promise me we’ll talk to him and figure this out when the workday is over—or when he comes back.”

“I promise, baby.”

Elijah’s presence flicked my eyelids up before the thought he’d come home materialized in my half-asleep brain. No noise rose from the hallway from where I’d left our bedroom door wide-open when Dakota and I had finally gone to bed, but I didn’t doubt his return.

After showering, I’d finished up what I could in the office regardless of my boss being there to guide me and his team through more paces with the robots.

Dakota and I had eaten dinner—alone. Darkness had fallen, and we’d shared a bottle of wine while waiting for Elijah to show his face. Dakota had wondered if he’d been called away for work, but there was no way in hell he would have left without telling us.

It was another two hours after lying down in our bed before my wife slept.

My eyes had eventually closed, and I’d ridden the edge of slumber, images of black dragon scales rippling through my mind until a shiver of energy had lifted the hairs on my arms, rousing me fully.

Slipping from beneath the covers caused Dakota to sigh and turn, but she didn’t wake. I grabbed my shorts off the floor and pulled them on before heading out our bedroom door. Sniffing the air, I looked left toward Elijah’s room, but his scent rose from my right, drawing me toward the stairs.

Darkness covered the open living area, and even though I couldn’t see clearly, I could make out the shadowed image of his bulk on the couch.
