Braxus and Alucius stepped between us and Eugene, and Braxus took Eugene’s throat between his jaws. Hayle held me gently as he glared down at Eugene.

“One wrong move, and Braxus is going to rip your throat out. I’ll call it an accident. It happens.” He set me down, and Leviat immediately curled around my thighs. We watched as Hayle prowled closer, squatting down in front of the bleeding man. “Your time is done, Eugene. You can live, and swear on your own pathetic life that you won’t so much as look in Avalon’s direction again, or you can be the brainless fucker I know you are and mouth off at me so I can end you now. Your choice.”

There was hatred in Eugene’s eyes when he looked at me, but eventually, he showed what a coward he was, turning his face away.

Hayle gripped his chin. “You’re going to swear it on your life, Eugene.”

“I swear it,” he spat out, ripping his face from Hayle’s grasp.

Standing, Hayle kicked him in the ribs. “I almost hope you’re lying, so I can put you down like the rabid animal you are.” Then, like someone had flicked a switch, he gave Eugene his normal charming, cocky grin. “You might want to get that bite checked out. War cat bites can cause some seriously nasty infections.”

With that, he picked me up in his arms and carried me away. He didn’t stop until we were through the atrium, down the stairs to the lower levels and in my dorm room. I didn’t argue. Being pressed into his chest eased an ache that I hadn’t even known was there, like an injury that just festered before it was cut out.

Whatwassurprising was that Vox was sitting on my couch in the middle of the day, looking disheveled. Something about his demeanour seemed… off.

Hayle walked to the couch and dropped me down beside Vox. I looked between them. “Is everything okay?”

Vox dragged me into his lap, burying his face in my hair. “It is now.”

chapter sixty-two

Avalon

I pulledVox closer to my body, wrapping him tightly against me. There was a desperate feeling in the air; something had happened. It was in the tense way that Hayle was holding himself, and in the air of desolation sitting on Vox’s shoulders like an ugly cloak.

Reaching over, I gripped Hayle’s fingers, but my attention was still on Vox. “What happened?”

Vox shook his head, tilting his face so his lips were close to mine. “Nothing unusual. I’m just happy to be back. Even happier to have you in my lap.” He closed the gap between our lips and kissed me softly, but it was infused with so much feeling, it almost tasted like a goodbye.

Clutching him closer, I deepened the kiss. He groaned into my mouth and buried his fingers in my hair, holding me so close, I wasn’t sure I could come up for air unless he allowed it. I didn’t care.

Hayle’s hand started to roam my body, up the curve of my hip until his thumb brushed the underside of my breast. I ripped my mouth away from Vox’s and looked between them. Two sets of eyes looked at me filled with desire; one forest green and one ice blue. “Is it time?”

Tilting his head back and staring at the ceiling, Hayle inhaled several deep breaths before he looked back at me. “It’s time, Avie. Let us show you how good it can be.”

Vox’s hand trailed up my thigh, squeezing the flesh gently. “We can give you a first time that none of us will ever forget.”

Nerves buzzed along my veins, but were quickly quietened by anticipation. I knew in my gut this was perfect. The perfect moment, the perfect people—even if there was one more person than I’d traditionally expected.

“Yes please,” I breathed, and it was like I’d released the beasts from their cages. Vox lifted me easily in ribbons of air, floating me between them as he kissed me fervently.

Hayle pressed against my back, his hands everywhere. “Bedroom. I need a large, soft surface to do my best work,” he rumbled, his voice rough with lust.

Vox snorted. “Not me. I could just…” I squealed as he shifted me with his air, until I was lying horizontal, my legs spread wide, with Vox positioned between them. My body was completely cushioned, and if I didn’t know better, I’d think I was lying on a bed.

Whistling between his teeth, Hayle moved so he was standing by my head, leaning over to kiss me. “Well, this could be even more fun than I thought. I’m not second-guessing my decision to allow you to horn your way into my relationship now, Vylan.”

Rolling his eyes, Vox flipped me back upright and set me on my feet. “Come on, Ninth. I want to be nose-deep in your cunt within the next five minutes, or I might actually go insane.”

My core clenched at his words, and I almost sprinted to my dorm bed. With the two of them in my room, it seemed tiny, little bigger than a closet.

Laughing as he pulled off his shirt, Hayle nudged Vox with his elbow. “Fuck, I forgot how small the lower level dorm roomsare. Hope you don’t mind if our junk touches, Vylan, because there isn’t enough room to swing a cat in here, let alone my massive cock.”

“You know what they say about people who boast about their dick size, Taeme. They’re usually full of shi—” Vox trailed off as Hayle dropped his pants, and his long, naked length was right there, on display.

My jaw dropped. There was no way that fucking thing would fit inside me.

Vox raised a brow. “I stand corrected.”
