I devour her mouth, and she matches my lust, leaning into me so far she’s all but climbing into my lap. I’m about to pull her over when she drags her hand down my chest and abs. She doesn’t dig fingernails in enough to really scratch me, but shedefinitely hints at the possibility in the future. When her hand skims over the hem of my jeans, I suck in a breath and clamp my hand down on hers, halting her descent into dangerous territory. “Sky,” I croak. “Baby.” The word is a plea, though I’m not sure what I’m begging for.
Skylar tenses up and sits back. The glow of her wolf is shining through her eyes. She takes a breath, regaining control, and carefully dislodges herself from me. I take several panting breaths as I fight my own animal’s urge to claim my mate once and for all.
Skylar looks at her lap and bites her bottom lip. Even in the dark theater, I can tell she’s blushing. “Sorry,” she murmurs, mortified.
I tap her under her chin so that she’ll meet my eyes. “You never have to be sorry for touching me. But I only have so much restraint. We keep going, and I’m going to lose the battle with my wolf. This is not the place to complete the bond.”
Skylar stares into my eyes and wets her lips. “Then let’s go somewhere more appropriate.”
I’m so surprised I can only choke out a single word. “Now?”
“Yes, now. I need you, Wulf.”
My brain short circuits with that confession. Never in a million years did I think she’d be the first one to make this move. But I can see the desire in her eyes. I can smell the lust. And it’s scrambling my brain.Needis not the word I’d use to describe how I’m feeling at the moment. It’s not nearly strong enough. I’m half out of my mind with want.
When my brain kicks back into gear, I smash my mouth to hers in a hard kiss before shooting to my feet and pulling her with me. I drag her from the theater fast enough that she’s laughing at me by the time we reach the car. I help her in, then run around the hood to the driver’s side. I’m in my seat beforeshe’s even buckled her belt, and she laughs again. “We should get a room somewhere,” I say, more to myself than Skylar.
“There’s a suite waiting for us at Parker’s hotel.”
I snap my head toward my mate, and she manages to both smirk and blush. “I had Elise set it up. Isabella was going to drop off an overnight bag for us, so we can go straight there.”
I stare at my mate in awe and ask myself for the billionth time how I got so lucky. “You are so perfect.”
Her face softens. “So are you. Now drive so that I can finally claim you.”
I throw the car in gear. “Yes, ma’am.”
Chapter
Thirty-Four
The tension between us calms on the drive to the hotel, and by the time we get to our room, some of the awkwardness seeps back in. Parker booked us one of the presidential suites. The hotel is one of the nicest in the city, so I’m sure one of the fanciest rooms is going to be insanely posh. What I’m not expecting when we enter the suite is all the flameless candles, rose petals, and soft music playing. There’s a bottle of champagne on ice, and an in-room jacuzzi ready for use.
“Oh, wow,” Skylar says with awe.
I chuckle. “I wouldn’t have pegged Isabella for such a romantic.”
Skylar grins and shakes her head. “This has Audrey, Tally, and Ashlyn all over it.”
My heart warms at that. The two teenaged coyotes took to my fierce little wolf almost immediately. They’ve done so much to bring Audrey out of her shell. She might be the most traumatized member of our pack, but she’ll heal. She’s already starting to.
I shake the thoughts of my pack aside. As much as I love them, they don’t need to be here in this room with me right now. This moment is for Skylar and me only.
Not wanting to just jump her, I reach for the bottle of champagne. “Drink?”
Apparently, I’m the only one feeling the need to be polite. Skylar takes the bottle from me and sets it back in its bucket of ice. “We can have champagne later. I want something else right now.”
I raise a brow, and, at my surprised look, Skylar’s confidence evaporates. She glances down, and her cheeks turn pink. I lift her chin until her eyes meet mine. My voice is deep and thick when I ask, “What do you want, little mate?”
She’s still blushing, but she gathers her courage and holds my gaze. She wets her lips, and her next words are shy but sure. “I want you, Wulf. I want to complete the bond, and then I want you to make love to me.”
I don’t know what to say. Skylar has effectively scrambled my brain. My silence makes her squirm. She bites her lip, and her blush deepens, but she never breaks her stare. “We know what we are to one another. We’ve already accepted it. Our wolves are restless, and…” She takes a steadying breath. “I want this. You. I’ve dreamed of having a mate—a real mate that I can love and trust and be happy with.”
Her eyes gloss over, and she holds her breath. She laces our fingers together. “You’re more than I ever could have asked for,” she murmurs, voice thick with emotion. “I want to be your mate. I want you to be mine.”
Heat burns through me. My wolf howls in my mind. He wants to be claimed by our mate more than anything. He wants her to be as possessive of us as we are with her. He wants to be owned by her.
I move quickly, practically diving into a deep kiss as I scoop her into my arms and carry her to bed. I lay her down gently, then climb on top of her. She submits to me when I settle myweight against hers, yet she meets my actions halfway, arching into me and returning my kiss with equal passion.
