He hadn’t had the realization of just how deep he was in it until he wrapped his arms around another woman in an intimate way. Claudia was sweet, and a fun partner that he enjoyed the time with. But it didn’t sit right with him, even with Julia watching he’d felt the need to kneel at her feet and confess his sins.

Graham handed her a small piece of chocolate, encouraging her to eat it with a subtle gesture. “Just because we’re easy doesn’t mean I’m not going to miss being around you.”

“I’ll keep your phone warm.” She teased.

“I don’t doubt that.” Graham shifted her in his arms. “Hey, make me a deal.”

“I can’t promise until I know what I’m agreeing to.”

“I’ll be worth it.”

“Meanie.”

“Meanie?”

“Yeah, askin’ me ‘portiant things when I’m all floaty head.”

“Hear me out.” He kissed her lips softly. “Keep my phone warm, we can talk and bullshit. See if there’s more.” Graham held her chin and brushed his fingers over her bottom lip. “If anything you’ll keep me from goin’ nuts surrounded by the guys.”

“Sounds like boys camp.”

“Nah, just taking the opportunity at triple what Chuck pays me and I’ve been thinking of traveling and taking some time off. I can do that by going out and helping.”

“He’s not mad you’re leaving the shop?”

“Nope, one of the guys will slide in. I finished my last car when I unloaded yours. Please be kinder to her.”

“Oh, hush.”

“Not until you promise me something, kitten.” Graham held his breath, waiting for her answer.

He was refraining from expressing his full emotions, he knew doing so would cause her to pull away and hide. He didn’t understand her hesitation, but he wanted to. He’d stick it out until she let him in.

She screwed her face tight and studied his features. The silence stretched until she finally broke the suspense.

“Okay, but you better up your texting game buster.”

“Deal.”

Graham:

Hey, beautiful. It’s been too many nights.

Julia:

Aw, is your trailer lonely?

Julia:

Are you enjoying frat camp?

Graham:

The weather is cool but the sun keeps it warm enough.
