“We have to go to pack training; that was Kyrio at the door. But I promise I will explain, tonight once we are done at Alpha Farren’s pack.”

“Alpha Farren’s pack?”I ask

He nods.“I think the council is covering up something.I want to check it out.”he answers, and I sigh.

“Alright.I will listen to what you have to say,” I agree, and he smiles before leaning down.He hesitates for a second, before his lips crash against mine.I feel his fangs graze my lips and I pull away only for him to pull me flush against him, his hand in my hair gently tilting my face up.I stop fighting him, knowing it’s useless when his blood rushes into my mouth, shocking me.My tongue traces his bottom lip to realize he bit himself, and I pull back.

“Take it,” he whispers, not letting me escape.“I didn’t mean to grab you, let me heal you, I know you’re hurting,” he whispers against my lips.

“You couldn’t just give me your blood?”I ask him and he smiles.

“This way is more fun,” he chuckles, kissing me.I give in, kissing him back when I find instead of the usual healing euphoria, I become aroused.Dion groans lewdly, kissing me deeper, and I feel my neck heal.I feel buzzed, my skin tingling wherever he touches. And I stumble into him chasing the feeling, and he laughs, falling back in his chair. He pulls me closer, his lips trailing down my neck as he leaves open-mouthed kisses, my hands move to his chest, before I grip his hair tilting his head back to kiss him.I know this isn’t my doing but his, but I don’t care.Anything is better than the sinking feeling in my gut a few moments ago.

“We could be late to pack training,” he whispers, “but it would be worth it.”

He soon pulls away, our foreheads touching, and his lipslinger on mine as he smiles.“I do not regret that,” he whispers before squeezing my ass as I awkwardly straddle him.I shake my head, letting the fog clear that warped my brain momentarily.

“Let’s go, or we will be late.”We leave his office and go join Kyrio at pack training. The whole time my mind buzzes with questions about my father’s supposed involvement in Trinity’s death, but for now, they must wait.Tonight we will get some answers—hopefully ones that make sense!

Dion leads me to pack training, and I stick close to him.He may be a monster, but right now, he is less likely to try to kill me.His pack, however, has no such qualms about doing so if I get too close.

Everyone partners up and Dion watches everyone closely when I hear Madeline’s voice. My eyes find hers immediately, and I see the sneer on her lips.“I’ll train with Luna,” she offers.

“That’s not necessary, I will train with her,” he tells her.Madeline goes to say something, but one growl from Dion makes her freeze.

“None of you will train with my Luna,” he says slowly peering around.“However, someone better explain what is going on,” his eyes fall on Tara and Kyrio.Tara looks away, stepping behind Kyrio slightly.

“It’s come to my attention that some tension remains about Emery being back in the pack,” everyone murmurs and looks at each other, but no one steps forward, and I wasn’t about to, either.Dion, sensing my unease, looks at me.

“Anything you want to add, Luna?”he asks me, and my eyes scan the crowd, I shake my head.“No, shouldn’t we be training?”I ask him.He watches me for a second, and it takes me a moment to realize he is searching for deceit.

“Yes, we can train.Right after everyone does twenty laps,” his eyes not leaving mine.I hear everyone groan and press my lips in a line. They take off running and Dion nudges me.I look at him.“You wanna lie, you pay the consequences.I knew something was going on, but the feeling I just got from you proved it,” he tells me.

“Now let’s see who’s going to break first…” he says, and I look at him.“You or them,” he says, nodding to his pack who are doing laps.

“I’m not ly—”

“I would try again, Emery.Someone will break and tell me, or I will command the answer from you, either way, no one is leaving this field until I know why Kyrio is concerned for you and Tara.”My eyes search for Tara, and I notice her running laps.

“So which is it, Emery? You running laps or telling me what happened at breakfast?”I press my lips in a line.“So stubborn, off you go, then.”He motions for me to start running, and I jog to where Tara is, falling in line with her.“Just tell him,” she hisses at me.

“They already hate me.”

“That doesn’t mean you deserve to be treated like that,” she tells me.After twenty laps, Dion orders twenty more, but as the sun reaches its peak, I find I can barely keep going. My muscles ache, I feel dizzy, and on the verge of throwing up if I physically could.A few pack members have thrown up, yet everyone has remained tight-lipped.

I know snitching will make me look worse in the pack’s eyes.Dion and Kyrio watch from the center, unfazed by us all struggling, and I am having a hard time breathing. My vision is doubling, and I feel sick from the heat.Gone is the buzz from Dion’s blood, and had I not had his blood, I reckon I would have fainted an hour ago.We keep jogging, everyone has slowed down, and they lap me twice as I come to a slow walk.I have to focus on each footstep, each breath, my vision growing worse when I feel Tara grab my arm.

“Tell him, you’re going to pass out.”I shake my head and that is all I manage, unable to talk.

Tara growls.“Alpha!”she calls and everyone stops.

I grip her arm.“Tara, no,” I rasp out.

“No, I will take my punishment for not coming forward, but you’re on the verge of collapse,” she snaps at me.I leanagainst her heavily and her body is the only thing keeping me upright.

Dion looks at her.“Are you explaining, if not keep running,”

“I have a confession,” Tara calls out when suddenly she is hit from the side.I don’t have time to react or gather my feet before I hit the dirt.Only I don’t hit the dirt like I expect, instead Dion moves with speed I can’t even fathom to comprehend, scooping me up. “Emery,” he murmurs, brushing my hair from my face.
