“So today is the day, right?” Raine interrupted her thoughts. “The day that they are moving Master to the rehab place?”
She nodded. “Yeah. I should be there, but you know how he is. When Master speaks…”
“…we obey.” Raine chuckled. “I’m sure it’s hard for him though. He’s always been the strong one, the one that takes care of everything. And now…with the heart attack and the drive-by, he needs help from everyone else - and that can’t be easy.”
“I imagine it isn’t…” She frowned. “I just wish he wouldn’t be so stubborn about all this. I love him and it hurts when he shuts me out, even if it’s because he doesn’t want me to worry.”
“Then tell him.” Raine advised. “Despite what you think, the man isn’t a mind reader. He’s a man just like the rest of us, and sometimes he has to be told when he’s fucking up.”
She nodded, laying her head back down on her folded arms. “But it’s hard and I haven’t been exactly submissive over the past few weeks. I had a session with the hairbrush the other day because I overstepped my boundaries.”
Raine chuckled. “Let me guess, the nurse came in to give him his meds and you asked what they were.”
“Close.” She closed her eyes. “I asked the doctor about his progress and what the next step would be. That’s when I found out about the rehab center. I swear that man probably thought he could keep it in the dark until after it was a done deal. Like I wouldn’t notice the fact that he was no longer at the hospital.” She grumbled. “Men. Boil them in oil.”
Raine outright laughed. “Now that’s not what you’re saying when Master sends you flying, Lizzie girl.”
“I know.” She blew out a breath. “I just wish he wouldn’t be so damned stubborn. It’s enough to make me crazy. Just because I’m a submissive doesn’t mean I’m fragile or even weak.”
“Preaching to the choir, sweetie.” Raine wiggled his brows at her. “I’ve had to have the same discussion with Daddy in the past. Just remember Master loves you, and just like my Daddy, he can be overbearing at times. It’s just a side effect of their love. It’s up to us to remind them that we’re not some fragile flowers that can’t take care of ourselves.”
She sighed. “Before or after the hairbrush makes an appearance?”
Raine, the bastard, actually laughed. “Come on, Lizzie, you know you love that hairbrush and the wicked things Master can do with it.”
“Shhhh…” She winked at him. “…that’s our little secret.”
Raine shook his head. “Like Master doesn’t know how much you love the feel of that on your ass.”
Lizzie rolled her eyes. “Let me have my illusions, Rainy.”
A short knock was followed by the entrance of one of the spa attendants.
“How are we doing in here?”
“Good.” Lizzie replied as Raine quieted. It was always this way when strangers invaded his bubble. It was only the fact that their favorite tech, Tony, had taken the time to learn Raine’s quirks that allowed him to give Raine the hot stone massage that he loved so much.
“That’s awesome. Tony will be in shortly to remove both the stones and the cups. We’ve prepared a light luncheon of meats, cheese, crackers and mineral water.”
“Sounds good.” She waited for the attendant to leave, before resuming her conversation with Raine. “So much for sushi and pizza that Master promised.”
“Yeah. That light luncheon is just gonna piss my stomach off. Do you want to hit up the drive thru of that fast food place down the street once we’re done? I’ll even pay.”
She sighed. “You’ll do anything for a greasy burger. What does Daddy say about your fast-food addiction?”
Raine had the audacity to look a bit sheepish about it. “So far he’s not aware of it.”
“How?” She gave him a surprised look. “Surely he doesn’t miss those delivery bags.” Just because her bestie had a fear of public places and peeps didn’t mean he couldn’t DoorDash with the best of them. “Or the fact that you’re eating greasy burgers and fries.”
“We only eat breakfast and supper together,” he finally admitted.
“Raine!” If she could pop up without dislodging the very breakable cups on her back, she’d have swatted his towel covered behind.
“What? Daddy doesn’t care what I eat for lunch as long as I eat.”
“And the fact that the doc said your cholesterol is very high for a man of your age? And that he ordered you to cut back on the fast food?”
He ducked his head. “Fine, we won’t go to the fast-food place. How about that natural food store, a couple blocks over? They have pretty good take home stuff, if you want to eat healthy and all that shit.”
