He sneered and threw the table leg down before pushing at my forehead. His hard shove made me fall backward and I landed on the dirty, tiled floor. I looked at the sociopath in front of me and when he came for me again, I tried to crawl backward, but it was no use.

With a firm grip on my hair, he pulled me from the floor and dragged me with him out of the room and down the short hallway. I could hear Star scream behind me and was devastated that this was her experience of Earth. I had wanted her to see festivals, beaches, nice restaurants, and beautiful architecture. Instead, she got to see the ugliest part of humanity and I was powerless to help her.

I was sure he would string me up on the cross that Malene had been on, but he opened the door right next to the room where she was in and threw me down on a bed.

“What is this?” Ko’roz voice made me turn my head to the door opening. “I thought I told you to be a good girl.”

I knew he had mind clouded me before, but this time I saw him for the creep he was. Fighting my attacker, I did my best to keep him from pinning me down.

With a hard punch his fist connected to the front of my shoulder and made me scream. As soon as his left palm closed around my neck, I knew I was screwed.

Ko’roz walked inside the room and sat down on a chair next to the bed. He seemed to enjoy the show when the crazy man above me spit me in my face and called me a whore with his strong accent.

“Show me how you handle obstinate women,” Ko’roz told Mikhail, who seemed eager to impress his new boss.

Still pinning me down with a firm grip around my neck, Mikhail lay down on top of me making it impossible to escape. Reaching for something on the corner of the bed, he tore my hand upward. I felt the metal of handcuffs and screamed in panic.

Ko’roz watched with glee in his eyes, as Mikhail violently cuffed my other hand before standing back. Panting from the exhausting fight, I glared at him as if my evil look would miraculously scare him off.

Taking his time, he stepped out of his shoes and pulled off his pants. Ogling me, he removed his black sweater and threw it on top of the bed. There was something grotesque about seeing the violent rapist wearing underwear with cartoon figures on them. Still wearing the colorful boxer shorts, he grabbed his crotch and bit his lower lip. “What do you say, boss? Do you want to go first, or should I teach this bitch a lesson?”

Ko’roz leaned closer and talked to me. “I heard you tried to redecorate your new home. From now on, you only do as we tell you to.”

Mikhail crawled onto the bed. I tried to kick him away, but he expertly managed to get between my legs. Unzipping my pants, he tore them off me, leaving me with only my blue underwear. Pushing up my shirt, he squeezed my left breast through my bra.

Last night I had made love to Soros and loved sex. Whenever Mikhail touched me, I felt repulsed and disgusted.

“We have clients who would pay a great deal for a feisty one like her.” His Slavic accent was strong, but Ko’roz understood and seemed to think about the man’s suggestion.

“Entertain me,” he said and crossed his arms with a smirk. “I enjoy watching them suffer.”

“Good, because disciplining disobedient women like this is my favorite thing to do.”

I closed my eyes when Mikhail smacked me on the side of my head. I knew aggravating him further wasn’t smart either, but I was full of rage. Collecting all my saliva, I turned my head and spit at Ko’roz. It landed right on his nose and dripped down. In slow motion, he dried it away, and with my spit on his finger he smeared it back on my mouth. “Open your lips,” he ordered, but glowering at him, I refused.

Eager to please his boss, Mikhail cupped my face and squeezed my mouth open. Ko’roz pushed his finger with my spit into my mouth and that’s when I bit him as hard as I could.

The fury in Ko’roz’s eyes terrified me. I had just pissed off a killer who enjoyed making women suffer and with me chained in handcuffs, I had no way to defend or protect myself.

In that moment, I felt certain that these two monsters would kill me. I only prayed that my death would be as painless as possible, and that even though it was too late for me, Star would get rescued.

CHAPTER 22

Hidden Treasures

Soros

As soldiers of the Federation, Lios and Nerix were trained to handle criminals of all species. My patience with Lios’ desire to handle the humans gently was running out. The situation had escalated way too far.

At least Lios seemed to agree because while I focused on finding a potential door behind one of the paintings, he spoke to Carlos and the three other men. This time, he wasn’t holding back with the mind clouding.

Just when I discovered that one of the paintings hung crooked on the wall, I heard Lios convince the men to put down their weapon. All he said was “Since we’re all friendly here, there’s no need for weapons, is there?”

It took me a few seconds to figure out how to slide the painting aside. In front of me was a staircase leading down to what looked like a storage room. Nerix came running down after me and spun around.

“Star showed me this room, but I didn’t understand what it was. Look for a blue bucket.”

We searched around and found a bucket. Nerix made a small triumphant sound when he pushed the storage unit aside. It was on wheels and behind it was another door.
